Prayer flags

it is important to remain in the world but not of it... as a Christian, I know that you know that... many Christians (including myself) are making Christian prayer flags for our own personal space and that includes my own garden.... simple cloths, beautiful fabric with water proof paint & markers and scriptures along with prayers for our home, community & world... based on God's word and Christian scriptures.... Flying our banners is not a new thing - our most valuable banner has to be a banner of love... each culture has their own way of respecting what they believe even when it does not include Jesus Christ... that is why we must ban together to pray for them and befriend them... respecting what they do not understand and winning them without a word until they are open to receive the Truth.... God has a plan and you have been planted 'for such a time as this'... embrace their search and be prepared to love them into the Kingdom... you are very special & chosen because of your tender heart.

A prayer flag is a colorful panel or rectangular cloth often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas to bless the surrounding countryside or for other purposes. Unknown in other branches of Buddhism, prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bön, which predated Buddhism in Tibet.[1] Traditionally they are woodblock-printed with texts and images.



Traditionally, prayer flags come in sets of five, one in each of five colors. The five colors represent the elements,[1] and the Five Pure Lights and are arranged from left to right in a specific order. Different elements are associated with different colors for specific traditions, purposes and sadhana:



Blue (symbolizing sky/space)

White (symbolizing air/wind)

Red (symbolizing fire)

Green (symbolizing water)

Yellow (symbolizing earth)[1]



Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to 'gods,' a common misconception, rather the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.

If not, bake some muffins, and go welcome them. Include information to your local church. Ask about the flags, it may open the door to sharing your faith. Praise the Lord Heather! I just felt compeled to share my testimony with you concerning Prayer and Faith. A few years ago my borther was shot and killed on Father's Day, right in front of my Mother's house, it is needless for me to explain the pain, confussing, and the fear that we all experienced.My Mom amd the rest of my sisters and brother that lived with her left the house, packed up everything that could and left. When she left her home, drug dealers statring selling drugs from inside the house, this whent on for about six months. My mom called me up one day and asked if me and my girls would'nt mind going over and staying at the house, I told her sure. When we got there I starting noticing that there quite a few young men standing in front of the house, it did'nt take long to figure our what they were doing. So I began to pray, as I prayed to the Lord, they moved from in front of the house to the drive way, every morning I'd get up a 6am and began to pray, as I prayed I watched. That's when I saw the drug dealers put their drugs into the bushes,so I got the water hoes and began to water the bushes and every where I saw them put the drugs.Well they moved again and this time to a empty lot two houses down from my mom's house.I said Lord that's not good enought, and I began to pray Job 5;8-12. Let me tell you what happend after that! A car was sitting in the drive way, and a man aproched me, I said sir, is that your car? He said yes, I said would you mind moving it please? He said miss we are the Police do mind if we look in your bushes? I said no, as I look at the back end of his car, hancuffed to back of it were two of the drug dealers!!! Mind you I had not called on the Police, but I was calling on Jesus.The Police told me that by that time next year, my kids would be able to come out and play on the front porch.I know without a dout that it was the Lord keeping me and my daughters safe, I know without a dout it was the lord that heard my prayer for help. I know without a dout it was the Lord that took away the fear that was in us, what a mighty God we serve indeed! God showed me that He can move any mountian, wheather great or small.I just thought I'd share this with you and I hope it is not offencive. God Bless you and Keep you is always my prayer for you.

That's a great idea Victoria, however we are in the process of switching churches. In a few weeks I might ask that if we decided to stay at the one we are at. But right now I wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

Heather, have you asked your Pastor to do a public prayer time for your neibourhood. Explain to them the situation and a let them know that you would really appriciate your brothers & sisters & leadership joining in faith with you.

Anne, I have been doing prayer walks ever since I moved in. They were fairly consistent before we started all of our road trips over the summer, and I haven't had a chance to do one for a while. I was actually thinking that it had been a while and that I would like to do one, but we were hit with a blizzard this morning. :( I do hope to be able to go out soon!

Heather one more thought about these prayer flags. Have you given any thought to doing a Prayer Walk around your neighborhood? Praying for God's Leading.

Heather I will also be Praying for you and your community. I know these kind of Prayers work. Last year I had to drive down a road in our community several times during the first half of Oct. There was a house that had halloween items( I can not call then decorations) out in front of here very big yard. The evil that I felt when I went by that house made me cringe. I was going to take a different way the next time I went to that part of town. God had other Ideas. So I started Praying that something would happen that would cause the home owners to take down this filth. I did not know that several other ladies that live in that area were also Praying. I truly believe it was a GOD Thing. About 10 days before Oct.31 there was an article in our paper about that house. The homeowners said that this was the FIRST Year that they had ever had any one bother their display, but things started disappearing from the yard. When they most expensive item was taken they decided to take down all of their things. THis year I have driven down that same road and they are not putting up a display. I know you want to also have a chance to Introduce Christ to your neighbors. I will be Praying for you to know God's Direction.

Praise the Lord Heather! I am going to write down what you have requested and add it to my prayer, and pray it everyday until you get your breakthrough, and the way is clear to go in and claim the land, and the people over to Christ. I pray also many of the other Christians Mom join in with you in prayer,..one can send a thousand and two can send ten thousand to flight.(I'm not talking about people, for we fight not against flesh and blood.....) May God's Favior, Blessing and Peace be with you. He that winneth Souls, is wise.

I want to pray for awareness. There are so many things that we as Christians don't know about, or don't see on a daily basis. Also there are so many people that unknowing take part in religious practices without thinking about or knowing the origins of what they are doing.

I want to pray for guidance in being a light in my own community. To share the love of Christ, and the gospel with them in a way that they will be receptive. I want to draw them to Jesus, not push them away.

Praise the Lord Heather, what did you have in mind to pray? I asked that because I'd like to come in agreement with what you'll be praying, there is power in agreement! I'm a true believer that if two touch and agree on any thing, that they shall recieve what they've ask God for in the name of Jesus. I've read in your post what's going on, but I need to come in agreement with the prayer that's on your heart.
