Scientology TV commercials? Anyone else disturbed by this?

Annette I have not seen the scientology commercial But I have seen the mormon commercials the thing that bothers me about these commercials is what they say is soo true. We do need to spend time with our family and do good and all the other things the commercials point out. What has really convicted me about these commercials is the fact that there have been times when I was guilty of doing just what the add is talking about. The other thing is that we are told in the Bible that there are deceivers out there and we need to be strong against them. Regardless of the false religion we need to be sure we know what the Bible teaches about the One true GOD!

I think I saw the commercial you're talking about. They make it out like the whole life experience is what the religion is about. At least that's what I got from it. In reality, when reading between the lines it seemed like nothing more than a recruiting ad. No offense to anyone in the military. That is a worthwhile cause. I've also heard that it's all about money. To reach the next level, you have to keep buying. Tithing is one thing, but exploitation is another.

I haven't seen a Scientology commerical, but those Mormon commericals really get next to me because I know that they are all lies.

Scientology is HUGE in the Hollywood world, this has been growing since the 1990's more predominantly, especially once Tom Cruise joined into it. I haven't personally seen the commercials, but TV is something that we are starting to discuss about having in our home at the moment.

Heather, there are plenty of ways to use Scientology as a means of witnessing the truth. I do recommend though if you do this, make sure you cover yourself in prayer, just as Jehovah Witness is very strong in their beliefs so is someone involved in this and can sway you to their side of seeing things.

Christine, not all Scientology believes in alien leaders, many do, but there are different branches of this religion as there is in all religions.

I know about the commercials... I think its obvious scientology is a cult.



Shelly, I am very familiar with carm.org. I have corresponded with Matt Slick (he's the one who runs the site) many times when I taught bible study. Matt has WONDERFUL information explaining non christian groups... and he does not have a page on scientology right now because he told me he was afraid of the scientologist coming after him! yes! they are THAT crazy! he said whenever he speaks out against scientology he faces legal battles and recieves death threats. Scientologists actually believe in an alien leader who lives on another planet who put humans on earth and that they were put into a giant movie theatre and made to watch movies about Jesus, Mohammed, and Buddha to confuse us and that it's our job to find our way back to our home planet.

I also have not seen the commercial. Is there anyway to use it to glorify God. Could anybody who has it come on use it as a conversation starter for witnessing? Just a thought.

There is one main reason false religions are popular-lack of conviction. If you read thru it, tere is no accountability for man's sin.

I don't think I have seen the commercial...But I did find a web site www.carm.org and started reading up on alot of the different religions and I don't have any answers as far as why this is catching on!!! I was pretty scared when I read what thier beliefs are!! I hope someone else has some in sight on this matter!!!
