vascular birthmarks

My niece was born with a small V.B. it is right above her eye. she is going to 55 in August. I can not remember wich eye lid has the mark. No my nieces is Very Small. ( I am 2 years older than my niece) When we were growing up she was always told it was her Beauty Mark.

I do know from working with a young women about thirty five years ago that had one on her cheek that was much darker and larger. I am not attempting to down play any concers or problems the Birth Marks cause. You and your group will remain in myPrayers.

My daughter had one on the inside of her thigh-pelvic area, right where the tape for the diaper went. I had to be extremely careful, I was horrified that I would put the tape on it and pull the skin off ;) My niece had one at the base of her neck, and my granddaughter had one on her forehead. I can't tell you for sure when they faded, I just know they did. My niece's on the nape of her neck retained a little browning, but her hair covers it. Otherwise everyone else is mark-free.

I didn't know what they were called until I read this post. You learn something new every day ;)
My daughter is going to be 39 this month, niece 31, and my granddaughter 15. All are healthy. My suggestion to you, after reading what Lindsay said, is to pray. God is the Great Physician, and He knows her body better than we do.

Hi Lady's my daughter has a vascular birthmark. She will be five months on the nineth. I've read some articles on this but they scared me. Does this cause any problems for her health in her future? And does anyone know how old she will have to be to get them treated?

I am so excited to hear from someone!! I am sorry to hear what you went through. Madisyn (my daughter) is having treatment to have it removed. THe laser treatment breaks up the blood vessel cluster. The birthmark she has is called a port wine stain. It is on the left side of her face. They have told us a few things to watch out for. We have been very blessed with great doctors and insurance that is covering almost everything. I started a group called vascular birthmarks you are more then welcome to join. It is strange because the doctors said that 1 in a thousand have this type of birthmark but like I have said I have yet to meet anyone with one or even a mom that has a child with one. Thank you so much for your post!

Hi. I was so excited to read your post! I was born with the same thing. Mine is on the back of my right arm and down the right side of my back. Although 30 years ago they didn't know what it was so they told my parents it was just a birthmark. BEWARE. They can be more than just a birthmark, such is the case with me. I just turned 30 a year ago and I was starting to experience some irregularities with my heart. After seeing a cardio doc and not getting much answers, I was sent to a vascular doc who then found out that the so called bithmark was actually an abnormal valve formation (or a huge mass of viens and arteries running together) that was making my heart pump 3x the amount of blood than it's suppose to, and this mass of viens and arteries were visible underneath my skin. I had to have surgery and I am OK for know. I would highly advise you to have this checked out, your daughter may develop heart condidtions that could go undetected for years, like me. I don't mean to scare you, but having two kids of my own, I couldn't imagine if they were going through the same thing. I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers and pray that her birthmark is just that, just a birthmark. If I come across anyone else who is going through the same thing I will send them your way, but much like you, I don't know too many people who have this either. God Bless
