Here in Christian Mommies we believe:

The Holy Scriptures are the True Word of God, and are important in all of life. We believe that the Bible is correct, and that if it says something is wrong then it is wrong. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 19:7, Galatians 1:8, and Romans 15:4)

Because we believe the Holy Scriptures, we believe in the Trinity. That there is only one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1: 26-27, Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Matthew 28:19-20, John 14:7, and Galatians 4:4-6)

We believe that all have sinned and are in need of a Savior. (Romans 3:23, Romans 5:11-13, Hebrews 9:22, and 1 John 1:8-10)

We believe that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. (Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8, Romans 3:24, Romans 6:23, and 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

We believe that as Christians God continues to work in us. (Philippians 1:6 and Hebrews 12)

We believe that we are to encourage one another, and treat each other respectfully. Not gossiping or arguing, but controlling our tongues. (Ephesians 4:29, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Proverbs 20:19, 1 Timothy 6:20, 2 Corinthians 12:20, James 1:26, and James 3:1-12)

We do believe that there are some issues that we are allowed to disagree on. On these issues we are to refer to Romans 12. However, there are many issues that we believe that we are not allowed to disagree on. The Bible makes certain things clear, and we are not allowed to compromise on those things.

We believe that we are to uphold the moral law of God. (Exodus 20:3-17 and Acts 15:28-29)

We do not believe that it is okay to distort Scripture to please human motives. (2 Peter 3:16)

We do not believe that it is okay to use our Salvation as a sin license. (Jude 4)

We do not believe that immoral and/or impure people are saved. (Ephesians 5:3-5)

We believe that there is important balance of truth and grace. (John 1:17) Truth hates sin, grace loves sinners…
Truth without grace crushes people – judgmental legalism
Grace without truth deceives people – deceitful tolerance

Hi Amanda,
Have you considered getting another translation? I'm not sure which you use, but something like an NIV combined with a paraphrase such as the NLT or Message version can be helpful to understanding.
Try reading early in the day, when little one is down for a nap & try in stints of 15 minutes to start with a couple of times a day.
Trusting & believing is a personally choice, so I don't really know what to tell you to help you do that other than ask for the Holy Spirit to assist you.
Pray before you read & after you read asking the Holy Spirit to help you understand & continue His ministry even after you have finished.

I trust this helps, I will keep you in prayer.
Blessings, Pastor Victoria MacPherson.

I agree with all of this. As a young working mother, it is hard to always remember these values. It is hard for me ti be patient with my 1 yr old and understand why he does some things. I get discouraged easily and give up. I have tried staying in the word a few times but I always have an excuse not to continue reading (too tired, don't understand it, etc...) what are some good ways to stay in the Word and trust that God is speaking to you?

I have been raised in church all of my life! I have heard many sermons preached about sin... and against sinners. I have to say, this is the first time in my 29 years that I've ever seen (or read) something that is SO true. The statement about the balance of truth and grace! You can't have one without the other! Love this!!! Thank you!!!

Wow i really love this statement of believe . Its great to read and it makes a lot clear to me . Me and my fiance have had a hard time in the last year not only work-wise but also with friends from church . People that dont agree with a christian couple living together if they are not married . I dont blame or disagree in that , but i think they are leaving a huge part out ... what about the love ???? Is it not love that brings you together and in love that you get married ??? Love is what binds us ! Why is a piece of paper and 2 rings that anybody could buy more important than the Love that can not be bought ??? Love is given to us to share so how can it be disreguarded like that ? I would be very happy to hear your views about this !!!!God bless you all

i joined your group but i am christian and do not believe in the trinity i believe that heavenly father Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three separate entities that make up the god head and ii do believe that Christ died for us and that on the 3rd day he was risen i do believe that we still have to show our faith in works not in word alone. i believe in everything else you believe except the trinity if that is a problem please remove me from your group

Wendy, If I were to turn you away because you were gay is a rediculous thing. The Bible calls it an abomination, but he calls a liar the same thing. If I were to say, " I am a Christian liar, I hope I can join your group," people would laugh and treat it like nothing, but slap "lesbian" on it and it's a whole other story.
God sees sin as sin. No sin is greater than another. He even consideres hate as murder. abomination is abomination and Revelations says that we all have our place in the pit. Repentance is for everyone and it is not selective. the Word says "any man who says he is without sin is a liar." I love you for your openness and transparancy. I am here for you and will help you anyway I can through your journey.

I agree Shari, You can be passionate about this all you want, but if you dont have any compassion you wont touch any souls. Jesus came for the sinner, the whole are not in need of a physician. He fed the masses before he preached to him. I do not compromose what I believe, I do not apologize for my beliefs. Jesus said if we are ashamed of Him he will be ashamed of us.... But I wont chase away a soul w/ fire and brimstone. None of us were born saved and only one was born perfect, Jesus Christ. Everyone used to be something.

Wendy, I am sorry that I am just now seeing your post! Please forgive me in taking so long to get back to you. I agree 100% with what Sandy wrote. I would need to dialog with you further before I could say you were immoral or impure. This is a VERY touchy subject, but also an important one. If you would like to dialog further I would love to do so in a private message.

Wendy,
I believe strictly by the Bible. I do what I am supposed to do. I do not dislike you because you are a lesbian, but I also respect the Bible and believe that you are living in sin because of your lifestyle. I have had many friends who were gay over the years, and I have told them all the same thing when asked. I believe that the lifestyle is a sin, but I would be wrong if I aimed toward you the "hate" of the sin. It is not you that I dislike or do not want to support in your walk, but I do not like or agree with your lifestyle. I don't want you to take the message at me being rude, mean, or ugly about it. I am just simply stating my beliefs. But, your lifestyle or sin, makes you no less my sister in Christ. If that makes sense. You love people through things, you don't alienate them and make them feel like they are not wanted and welcome, in my opinion, that is a large problem with some Christians. They are not able to accept a person, without alienating them due their sin no matter what that sin may be. I think you are loved and can be encouraged in your spiritual walk, not necessarily in your lifestyle though. If you see what I am saying. I can befriend anyone without supporting a sin, a lifestyle, or a bad habit. Some Christians have a problem with this, but you do that or risk turning people away from God, and God would not want us alienating people from His family.

As a Christian Lesbian mom, I am wondering if I fall under your immoral and/or impure people or if I have a place here? Not starting a flame war, just wanting to know where I stand and I can find support through my spiritual journey here.

Heather,
It is always great to read a post of faith when someone believes in the Bible as saying what means, and meaning what it says. I have written for a Christian ministry website for several years. I have also been a member of several Christian networks and posting boards, and have been literally, verbally attacked by other Christians who just call me a "fundamentalist". Through the Bible, God gives us daily direction for our lives, and really guides us through in a simple way, telling us right from wrong, and attempts to make things very simple for us in order for us to be able to follow His word and His direction. Thank you for your post. God bless you and have a great Thanksgiving.

Heather, I just came across this community! And, YES! I believe those things, too, with all my heart! How refreshing to find some moms who love Jesus and want to live according to the Bible! I would love to find some support, encouragement and friendship with other Christian moms. I hope that is what is going on here. If so, I want to join your community!

Donna, please forgive me if I came across as harsh in my last post. This is a statement letting you know what we, in this community, believe. We are not a debating community (see the Must Read thread), and our beliefs are not up for debate. As I said originally I would love to help you understand the Trinity if that is what you desire, but only if you are trying to understand and doing so in a gentle loving manner, and at this point, I would ask you to e-mail me or one of the moderators before posting on the subject again. Thank you for your understanding.

Donna, we believe they are three in one. I have explained to you both here and in e-mail before you posted here as to why we believed this way. I do not think that you are looking for understanding, and neither are you explaining why you don't believe in the Trinity. As I said before, if you truly seek to understand I would love to discuss this further, but do not attack our beliefs again.

duet - agree, matthew 28- it says name and not names. what is the name of the father. Luke - the father , son and the holy ghost in the form of a dove so are they all separate or the same.

Have you receive the Holy Ghost since you believed?

Where in the word of God does the Trinity appear in the scriptures? Trinity means 3 person and there is only one God. There is a manifestation an is example Diane, is a mother, a daughter and a wife put she is still one person. God is the son, the father and the Holy Ghost. So there is one God just manifested in different titles of a person.

Donna, we believe that it is speaking of willful sin. If someone points out that we are being immoral or impure and we do not turn from it, then we are not following God's Word and thus we can not claim to be saved. That is all that is meant by that. We can not assure people they are saved if they are willfully sinning.
