What God expects from us as Christians first and foremost!

Just want to get some general feedback from "those that have gone before me"
I believe that God does not want his people to be weak. If there has been a wrong doing done against us or anyone in our "family" we should take action. I believe that the important thing to keep in mind is that "in your anger, do not sin". I believe there is a major misconception out there about Christians!

I think that we can express anger without sinning- Matt 21:12 tells of Jesus clearing the temple- overturning tables and "driving" people out. But it seems to me that He was just sticking up for His family (i.e. His father's house)...the challenge for us as sinners would be to be able to be upset like that and still maintain a pure heart!

I'll just throw out one more verse at you (since it's my favorite): Romans 12:21- Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.

Here is the scripture on holding each other accountable. I really hope that this helps you!

Matthew 18:15-17

"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or thee witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector."

Ok, first of all, we are weak. 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10 says "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

That being said, God makes us strong. All by ourselves we are very weak. But that's okay. But your next point is also addressed in the Bible. In 1 Corinthians 6:1-11. We are called to hold eachother accountable though. You need to be very carefull how you go about it. James 3:19-10 talks about praising God and cursing men with the same tongue. The Bible also says  in 1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

I can't remember where the verse is on holding eachother accountable. I'm sorry. I will keep looking. I urge you to take this matter to God before you act. He can lead you in the right direction. He can answer your question better then I ever could. He knows the situation and he knows the outcome. Pray for his guidance.

Remember that we are very weak by ourselves, but God makes us strong. Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Okay the Lord has corrected me.  The #1 thing that we are called to do as Christians is have a personal relationship with Him...Thats it thats all b/c when we do that the rest is taken care of.   So just talk to him have a conversation with him...and he will guide you and show what you are to do!!!!

Patricia,

Your right in the point that we are not called to be door mats BUT, we are called to love our nieghbors as we love ourselves, and he calls for us to turn the other cheek.  We are also called to be slow to anger.  So I guess the thing that you need to clairify on what it is that you think what wrong has been done to you.  We are not to judge on whos right and whos wrong that is your makers call.  We all have done it thinking we know best and trying to form Gods words to make us write.  You need to go pick up your bible and read what he has told us about anger....And I think you need to pray about what ever the situation is and define what you concider action to be.  If you concider giving it to God action then yes we are to take action.  If you concider praying for the person that did wrong to you action then yes we are to take action....But if your thinking you should take care of it in your own way then no we are not to take action....What ever it is give it to God and he will guide you in what action you need to take.  You just need to listen He is faithful to answer....I hope that this helped with what your looking for May God bless you abundantly
