I like your suggestion. It does look like the link is available after the month is over because they have a list Of past books you can go to for the questions.
Lets get this started! Thank you for your help.

I aasn't suggesting the whole thing, that is definitely too long. We could pick a few questions here and there to discuss instead. It could be done as we read or at the end. Or we could post the whole thing and let people answer what they want to find out what is interesting to the majority. I don't care either way.

HI Anita I just went to the web site and the reading guide is am eleven week devotional. I really think that 11 weeks to spend on one book may move really slow. The guide gives suggested reading for each day. I do think the guide is a good idea. Do you have any ideas on how we could use the guide and not take 11 weeks. I was wondering if we just encouraged the other moms to read as they had time and hopefully we will be able to get through the book in a Month. however we could go longer is we all felt it was needed.

You must go to the site. It's christianbook.com/coffeehouse. I don'tknow how long they will be on though, probably just until the end of the month, which means next Monday. Maybe we can copy and paste them as a new conversation?

O.K. this may post twice I hope not.
That sound good to me. Do you know if there are questions in the back of the book or will we need to go to the web site you suggested?

Let's do it! We can start now and hopefully finish somewhere in July and start the other one maybe? The "Hole in our Gospel" could be the August selection so people have time to buy it b/c it's new.

How do you feel about "The Birds, Our Teacher"?

I really want to read "The Birds, Our Teachers" by John Stott, or "The Hole in our Gospel" by Richard Stearns. Either can be purchased at Christianbook.com or Womenoffaith.com. I can't decide! :(

Because you and I seem to be the only moms that have time to get involved how about if you pick this months book. We can decide later as we go if we want to only stay on the book until the end of June or how we want to do this. I am very open to suggestions. I do like the idea of the discussion questions. Let me know what you think.

I don't care what we read! I just wish we could decide already. Hope I'm not too anxious but this is taking longer than I thought.

I am open to any suggestions, however if none re made I am leaning toward Neta Jackson and the Yda Yda Prayer Group. ANdy other Ideas?

Actually there are quite a few discussion questions for groups and we could choose a few to get started after we read the book.

Hi ladies are we still interested in a Christian Moms book club? What do we think about Anita's idea of the web site she mentioned?
Her is my take on her suggestion, I have to be honest I have not checked it out, I just came bake to this post for some ideas to get us started.
Anita are the discussion question similar to the ones in the Karen Kingsbury books?

O Yeah, Ted Dekker is a good author. Have you seen his website? A friend highly recommended one of his books to me once.

Sounds interesting. I will have to check out the website to find out more and having the discussion questions as guidance would be good.

Guess what I found? There is a really nice christian reading circle with christianbook.com/coffeehouse. They have a featured book & discussion questions on the site that you can copy & use for groups like this! The featured book this month is called "The Birds, Our Teachers". It sounds REALLY good! What do you guys think?

I would like to read anything by Beth Moore. I'm not to big on romance either, but fiction is fine.

I just finished reading a book by Susan Meissner. Why the Sky is Blue. It is a christian fiction book about a family and how an unseen event changes there lives. Here is the info on the back of the book "A Mother...a Daughter... and a Night that Changed Them Both Forever Claire Holland has a loving husband, beautiful children, and a life as predictable and safe as any woman can imagine. Then, one night when returning to her car after a quick shopping trip to the local mall, everything changes...Kate Holland looks back at that night in her mother's life and knows it was a turning point. Their safe world was destroyed as choices were made that would forever affect the future of the entire family. This amazing story of sacrifice and redemption is told by two women-mother and daughter-in their own unique and decisive voices. It's a story about dreams coming true...and about asking why the sky is blue" She also has some other books out. I enjoyed this book. I also enjoy Karen Kingsbury and Terri Blackstock. I will be looking forward to whatever book you choose.

My sister-in-law recommended Terri Blackstock to me, and I found the first in the Restoration series. Loved it!! Am trying hard to find the next 3 at thrift shops. The books are "Last Light", "Night Light", "True Light" and "Dawn's Light".

Hi Shelly, Karen Kingsbury and Gary Smalley wrote the Redemption Series together. There are 5 books in the series Redemption, Remember, Return, Rejoice and Reunion. These are not just romance stories. You could go to either of their web sites to find out ore about them. Karen then goes on and writes 2 more series about the Baxter family and others from their town. Another great author is Neta Jackson. She wrote the Yada Yada Prayer Group. It is about 12 women that meet at a women's city wide retreat. This book made a difference in my Prayer live. Both series are full of scripture and really are great reads.

I don't like romances either too much...but the series by Liz Curtis Higgs with Whence Came the Prince (that's the third one) is REALLY really good! I also like T Davis Bunn, and I have a book called The Begotten by Lisa Tawn Bergren on my to-read list...
