I was just wondering if any of you ladies had read the new book "The Shack"?? I read it last week and loved it but when I looked up reviews on the internet there were many negative opinions from pastors and other Christians, along with good ones as well. God was portrayed in a pretty unorthodox way but it actually made me see God in a more personal way. It's a fiction book which many people were confused about when they read it. So I just don't know... I guess I am wondering what you all thought of the book and if it is wrong to picture God as he was portrayed in this book?? I need godly women's opinions! :) Thanks!

I have not read the book, but did see excerpts. I also personally know people on both sides of the fence about this book.

One thing that really bothered me is that when Mac was talking with the character who was supposed to portray Jesus/The Son (sorry, trying to remember the exact words, it's been some time since I read this excerpt), basically he asked the character if he was really the only way to Papa and the answer did not line up with scripture, most specifically John 14:6 when Christ tells us that no man comes to the Father but through Him.

Now, I do realize this book is fiction and I realize that all might not see things the way I do and I leave that to between you and God. My own personal convictions are growing and God has been instilling in me that if it doesn't line up with the Word, it is not something that I shouldn't be messing with. My personal thoughts are I probably wouldn't have even bothered reading the excerpts except it was supposed to be a "Christian" fiction book. Yet, if this book is "Christian" it's not Biblical, and if it's not Biblical, is it truly Christian and is it something I should be reading. How would it glorify God in my life?

I have read the book and I realy liked it the way they portrayed God did not affend me and our Reverant also read it and said that there's nothing wrong with the book.
