I have heard of a great idea called a penpal circle where a whole groups of friends write to each other on paper! E-mail is great but there’s nothing quite like getting it on paper through the mail! Those with children can even set up something like this for their kids so the young ones can write to each other as well!
The group can be as big or as small as you wish but I would recommend no more than 20 people and no fewer than 5. Say you do it with 8 people and those 8 are:
Sandra writes a letter for everybody and mails it to Janet. Janet reads the letter from Sandra (photocopies it if she wishes to keep it) and writes a letter herself to everyone. She adds her letter to Sandra’s and posts them both to Linda. Linda adds her own letter and sends all 3 letters to Susan. It continues like this until all the letters written are sent to Mary. When Mary receives the 7 letters she adds her own and sends the package of 8 letters to Sandra who was the first person in the group. Sandra removes her first letter (everyone has read it now!) and writes another one which she adds to the rest and sends them to Janet. Every time a member of the penpal circle gets a package of 8 letters, he/she removes her own previous letter and writes a new one.
This means you have more friends, you receive more letters and you’re in a discipline to write your own letters within a reasonable time as the next person in the group is waiting for all the other letters! You’re also saving a bit in postage compared to what it would be like to write to everyone separately!
Just an idea, but if anyone’s interested, I’d be happy to be part of a group – please message me through Circle of Moms! I live in England, by the way!!

I am also a SAHM of 4 though, Christian and my husband is from the Philippines. He came to the US when he was 16, and his folks recently came over. Please feel free to email me at any time, as I am beginning to appreciate my husband's culture and traditions more and more as they are very unique!

I'd love to have a penpal. I always loved it in school - and I write pen and paper letters to my hubby's aunt at least once a month. I"m a Christian, homeschooling mom of 3 kids. My boys are 7 & 4 1/2, and my girl just turned 3 and has many allergies. I live in IL. If anyone wants to be a penpal feel free to send me your e-mail in a private message. :), Jen
