Anyone have a child that respects you and other adults in your life, but when it comes to his teachers-respect goes out the window? I hear it usually the other way around. So confused and frustrated.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

I agree with Michelle! I was a preschool teacher before I had my daughter, that the key is showing them that YOU as the teacher are the boss, and the children WILL respect you.

Yeah....wanna know WHY he doesnt respect his teacher? Its probably because she doesnt MAKE HIM respect her. Respect is TAUGHT. You have obviously taught your son to be respectful to you and other adults...but he is with his teacher everyday (without you around no less) and you arent there to enforce these rules. His teacher is allowing him to be disrespectful....maybe because she is his teacher and she can only "discipline" him so much. She cant spank him or anything....however...she CAN make him respect her. She probably isnt doing a good job with the kids.....if your son doesnt respect her...then chances are he isnt the only one. I worked in daycare for 9 years...and not once had a child be disrespectful to me...and IF they were....I nipped it in the bud right then and there. I have taken the most challenging 3 year old classroom and turned it into a great class to play and learn. I say talk to your son about this....tell him that he has to listen to his teacher....and if he doesnt then he is going to get into trouble with YOU. This is what I would do but you do what works for you. Does the daycare have cameras in the rooms? Sometimes there is a website you can go to to watch the kids interacting with each other and their teachers. If not...then try to see if you can "spy" on him....then you will see the situation and you will KNOW if the teacher isnt doing her job......but you cant let the teacher know. Talk to the director...Im sure she will do something about it.
