There is a bill in Washington that would eliminate any parental consent laws on the books pertaining to abortion so that a child as young as 13 could get an abortion without their parents' knowledge. Abortions are dangerous procedures that can end in a perforated uterus or worst a perforated bowel (which would necessitate wearing a colostomy bag for the rest of their life). This is beyond the hurt and pain that many women go through after an abortion.

This legislation would also eliminate ALL other state laws concerning abortion, so that even partial-birth (where they birth the baby's head before penetrating the skull to kill the child) and other late term abortions would be legal. As a matter of fact, any attempt to regulate the abortion industry would be considered infringing upon someone's rights. Government funding (our tax dollars) will be used to fund abortions also under this bill.

The bill is called the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) and you can help by joining the facebook group "Citizens Against FOCA" and signing their petition They have much more information on this bill. Also, they tell you how you can contact your specific senators and representative to ask them not to vote for FOCA.

Even if you are pro-choice, if you read this entire bill, you will see that it takes away states rights to ban especially dangerous or violent forms of abortion and would help cover up sexual abuse when parents don't need to be informed that their child received an abortion. Anytime a minor is pregnant, it is an obvious case of a sex crime and should be reported to authorities. FOCA would not allow for this or any other requirements of those performing abortions.

Thank you for your time and God bless you!

I do agree that we need to teach our children well.  I respectfully disagree, however, that we should leave Washington out of the picture.  It isn't fighting congress, it is letting them know what their constituents think.  Many of them base at least part of their votes on this (even if it is just to get re-elected).  I believe that peacefully and lovingly educating adults as well as our children and letting lawmakers know how we feel is the responsible thing to do.  Also, I feel that our Christian responsability to be good citizens includes this.  I am glad that there are many good moms out there like you and I who will endow our children with a respect for every human life as well as a respect for themselves as God's creation.  I'm just trying to help women (especially young girls) outside of the walls of my home in the way that we are called to love everyone, not just our own little darlings.  Thank you for your post.  God bless.

I agree that this bill is wrong, but I really think that instead of fighting congress we need to teach our youth how wrong it is. The people in Washington are going to vote one way or another, and God's will will be done either way. I believe that what we need to consentrate on is helping our youth make the right decisions. Letting them know what the aftermath could be and how God feels about it.
