Husband can't find work, please pray!

[deleted account] ( 25 moms have responded )

Hi, I'm new to this community, but seeing as it is a Christian moms place I thot maybe I could ask for prayer? We recently relocated with the promise of a job when we got here, only to find out the guy who called us actually didn't do the hiring and the actual boss didn't want more workers at the moment! We were devastated as we left a fairly decent paying job - we also have a little girl who continues to grow and need clothes and shoes. To make a long story short, we are living with my aunt and uncle (who aren't Christians and also have dogs and cats in a small house!) Thankfully we weren't locked into a rental or anything because its been 3 weeks now and we still can't find work. It just seems like nothing is opening up for us and our savings money is going towards bills. We really need our own place and work! Its been very stressful and discouraging. Many tears have been shed. If you read this can you please just send up a tiny prayer asking God to help us thru' this. Its been so hard.... our happy girl has gotten kind of grumpy and even our marriage is feeling the strain. Even tho we love ea other more then ever, its caused us to be short and snap at each other even tho we normally aren't that type. Please please please pray..... thank you

yes mine did, i don't know about Nicole! Its just part time and the pay is not very good so its still stressful, but at least we are in our own place now and we survived :) Right now we are on food stamps as my husband only made a bit over 600 the month of Dec. but at least we wont go hungry. They aren't accepting housing applications, we looked into that too. So we have an apartment for $650/m which is really scary because that's pretty much all he is making so far. We have some savings we can fall back on, might not be able to pay taxes in April but get an extension :( We cut out everything we could, only have one cell, no tv no internet etc.... we are surviving tho!

You got it! Just did it. I have a favorite verse that I try to recite and lean on: Phil 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
I know it seems hard to trust but God promises to use all circumstances for his good. Whether to make your marriage stronger or prepare you for something better.....I will check back to see an update!!! Praying for something great to come through!

Romans 8:28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I am new to this group and I can relate to a few of you guys. My husband was lay off from his job in August five days after our second son was born. It has been rough for us, but God has been amazing. He has provide to people to help us. I will be praying for you guys. We don't understand why things happen, but remember God has a better plan then we every know.

Keep seeking God and trusting him. I know that I have cried many times and not knowing what the future holds, but we have hope in the Lord.

Hey all! God is awesome isn't he?! My husband is still out of work, but God has made this trial a blessing just showing us how supportive our church family is and how our little ( ok not so little) family has had an impact there since we moved here.
Some of the sunday school classes were told to make a Christmas list.Originally it was a lesson in wants and needs and to show how all the things on their lists would eventually break or not fit and Jesus would always be there for them..Well all 5 of them had things for their sisters on it instead of themselves...That made someone in the church notice and mr and mrs anonymous bought things for my girls when I couldn't afford to. I had my older girls say a prayer of thanks for mr and mrs a and my husband and i did too.
Just felt that I should share this story of God providing for us in our time of need.

Hi Chris,
I'm new to Circle of Moms so I'm not sure if your situation has changed. My husband has been out of work since August and the last two months of his job he worked without a paycheck. I definately know what you are going through. Recently our Pastor taught a series on "Moses in the Wilderness". Exodus 17:1 When Moses and the Israelites were in the wilderness God provided for them everday for 40 years. I've found it very comforting to read this and remember that God will lead you into a situation for your own maturing and your faith will see you through. My church as webcasts of past sermons online. Private message me if you like and I'll share the link with you. You are in our prayers.

Hi Chris and Nicole,
I am praying for the both of you. My heart goes out to you. I lost my jobs that I had alot when I was single. I was in my own apartment this las time, single, I was laid off (1995) Had my own apartment. Did not know when my payment would come from. Thank God for family because they help me quite a bit. I got part time jobs for a few months, putting in all kinds of applications. I was crying to the Lord one night and he simpy said stop looking and trust me. I did and a few months later found a job as a teachers aid part time. My calling is with children and had that job for three years. The Lord is carring you both and your husbands through this. Read footprints in the sand. It is so true and he is carring you, your husband and the children through this. Thank you Chris that he has another job. Praise the Lord. My prayers are with you all. God bless you.

I will join with the other sisters and families in prayer for you. Our situation looks very grim when looked at through human eyes also. But regardless, I am sure that ALL things work together for good... and we must be sure to Bless the Lord at ALL times and let His praise CONTINUALLY be in our mouths! I am writing that to you but also reminding myself, too!!! Thank you for the praise report.

Sweetheart go to the Human Resources office first. They can show you how to put your name on the housing list, ask about food stamps and child care assistance. Ask about the Pell Grants to even get a certification of some sort. Ask about even unemployment. In order to allow yourselves to get on your own feet. You and your husband can look for work together even temp if necessary. Don't be too proud to work fast foods even. Is your husband interested in going into the military?

Chris and Nicole, I am praying jobs for both your husbands. My son-in-law was just laid off until March, so I understand that the natural thing to do is PANIC! We, however, know that our Father knows what we have need of. My heart's prayer for you guys is that you hold onto Jesus as tight as you can. Faith is looking at a situation and seeing the end result and not the present. That is not to say you lie and tell people he's working when he's not--rather, 'God is supplying our needs right now, and we are positive that a job is out there for him.' If we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understandings, in all our ways acknowledge Him, and He will give us our desires. Not WANTS, needs. Big difference.
Your husbands are feeling inadequate and unmanly right now, and will be grumpy. That is the God-given ego that helps them go to work when they don't feel like it. Try to be as loving as you can and try not to smother them ;) Marriage is hard work; God tells us to be married a lifetime because it takes that long to work the kinks out of it. We just celebrated our 37th anniversary, and believe me, it ain't been pretty sometimes! But, with God's help, our children are grown, and we are enjoying our grandbabies. In Philippians Paul says 'rejoice in the Lord alway, and again I say rejoice'. Be thankful you have a roof over your heads, you have food, you are warm, that you are together. Find things to be thankful for, and you will get through this and tell your grandkids about it in the future. Good luck, sweeties, I am praying for you.

I would like to put in here that my husband found a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yippeee!!!!! Its part time with the possibility of going full time, so we are hoping! :) But a little is better then nothing.... now we are just trying to find a place to move into as we desperately need our own spot. Everything is so expensive tho and its really nerve racking to try to figure out what you can afford when you haven't gotten the first paycheck yet!!!! But we are definitely thanking God for what He has done, I just need to continue to trust Him (you'd think I'd have that down already with all the practice I've had! :)

We are going through almost the same thing. My hubby lost his job of nearly 4 years back in March. For a couple of months he got a bit depressed and now he is seriously looking for work. He has put in 60 job applications in the last few months and has gotten 0 phone calls back. He has called the temp service every other day and nothing there either. He has had 3 different times when he thought he was going to have regular steady work and none of them has panned out though they were gifts from God to pay this bill or that one at the time. We had stress at first because of the depression, and then because he is getting so frustrated that he takes things I say the wrong way. Just be patient, remember God has something good in store for all of us and keep praying and we will do the same for you.
