When i was growing up the only prayer my family ever said with me was "Now I Lay Me". I would like to teach my little ones a prayer that means a little more than that; so I decided to write one. I know that for them to remember it well it should rhyme (they are 4 and 1). So here is what I have so far, the first two verses are fine but I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions to help the last part. Thank you in advance and GOD bless everyone.

A Child's Prayer

I love You GOD,
and I know You love me,
You take good care of my family.

I confess my sins Lord,
please take them away.
I thank you for everything
and this wonderful day.

I pray for my family
I pray for the ill
I pray for my country
I pray for the lost
I pray all would be saved
and go to heaven.
In Jesus's name Amen

Oh I love that you did a great job my mother - n - law says "now I lay me" with my husbands nephew which lives with us and he stays with her on weekends but with my little girl she cant talk yet and I wanted to get a routine with a nightly prayer when she was a baby I made up a tune but it wasn't a prayer and then I wanted it to be a prayer anyways the one I come up with is
Jesus watch over me and keep me safe and keep evil away from me please let me have good dreams and let me get up in the morning feeling really good and let tomorrow be a great day these things we ask in your name Amen
well I do it with Austin now and he always ask for us to do that not lay me down and he always says I want to talk to Jesus aunt Stacey and I say ok talk to Jesus and he starts to say that one but I like what you have you did a great job take care and god bless

I love that prayer!!!!!!! When we pray with our son we have him thank God for all of the blessings that he received that day along with the general things like food, clothes, (if it a nice day we thank God for the sun) and then we let him name people that he wants and asks God to bless them...it is usually the same people i.e family, friends, classmates. When we started praying with him over a year ago, we had him repeat everything we said, now we still have him repeat some things but we are also starting to let him do more on his own so we know what is on his heart!!! I don't believe there is a right/wrong way to pray, as long as it is from your heart, God knows and loves it!!!!!! God Bless you as a mom for praying with your children!!!!!

I think this is a grat idea, I use the "now I lay me down" prayer with my kids, but with just a few add on at the end. But I will say the idea of writeing ur own and making it rhyme was a wonderful idea, and I think the prayer is just perfect the way it is! Good Luck teaching it to your kids!
