My 2nd graders Sunday School teacher brought me a list of books in the bible that they are going to be learning. She said that I need to go over the books of law with her this week. I work 6 days a week and have 2 other, younger children and pregnant with another, so I am very busy and generally exhausted. Does anyone know a fun way to present this to her (not just sitting down and reading it all to her), and also suggestions on some of the things in the first five books of the bible that are imperative to go over with her. All suggestions or links to websites with good info will be appreciated!
Thanks

http://bible.org/seriespage/law-first-fi... Perfect for what you're looking for. Also go on youtube.com and put biblical children's songs. You can also teach her as you go through your routine. "god made that. God make you. Today's Sunday- He rested the 7th day." (Though the 7th day is really Saturday.) etc.

Do your best, teach as you go throughout the days. While it may not be in the exact order, there is a book out there for children kind of like the Daily Bread for adults. It's called Keys for Kids. My daughters love them.

The Bible says we should teach our children about God's Word when we rise up, go to sleep and walk along the road, so yes everyday examples are great! My daughter asks a lot about God's creation so teaching can happen during everyday things. Also, the Bible says that if you do not discipline your child you hate them, and discipline simply means instruct your child in the way they should go according to God's word. I think people may think discipline is something scary and mean, but it's really just helping your child learn how they should behave as God's child.

When my kids were little, I just took every opportunity to just talk to them about the Bible. For example, while eating sandwiches at lunchtime, I would say, "Don't you love soft bread? Did you know that Jewish people had to have hard, flat bread once? It takes time to bake soft bread, and they were in a rush..." and off I would go into the story of the Passover. It was great because the kids would ask questions and otherwise interact with the stories in the Bible. It got so my kids would start asking, "Is there a Bible story for this, Mom?"

I know there is acutally songs out there to help them learn. My daughter learned one at Awanas at our church. Not sure how it goes. But sure if you look on the world wide web you can find one or if you have a Christian book store you might look there. Good Luck.

Also, if you go to Christian Book Distributer.com they have a ton of fun children's Bibles with pictures and they explain it in ways easy for children. They also have a homeschool section where you may find some good children's Bible resources there.

Wow that's an amazing sunday school teacher! If only we as parents were more guided in how to teach our children about what God says. I don't know of any websites offhand but I'm sure they are out there. With my daughter, we learn the 10 commandments with different hand motions, we just make them up that match with each one. You could also ask her sunday school teacher for more guidance in how to present this. I send my daughter to Awana and Good News Club and they also have a ton of great ideas about teaching children about God so even if you could talk to others who minister to children all the time they could give you more ideas.
