NEED HELP.

The Twilight Saga has become a huge influence on our teenager. Most of us do not have a problem with the books or movies. Our issue is with the role model, the lead actress, Kristen Stewart has become. The 19 year old openly drinks, smokes, does drugs, cusses and is sexually active. We need an actress with higher moral standards.

We must stand up to the dangers which surround us and our families.

We need your votes @ petitionspot.com/petitions/kristinasbella

PLEASE FORWARD TO EVERYONE!!! Thank you.

Leah- Why would you allow your child to give a speech to a complete stranger about smoking? That is so rude. I don't understand why someone would allow this, obviously that smoker knows what its doing to their body. You don't know their situation, they could be trying to quit....if you've ever been addicted to something then you would know it takes time and quite often people fail. My fiance is a smoker and he has tried to quit numerous times but hes been smoking since he was 13 years old (his parents are smokers too) and its so hard on him. If your child would have walked up to my fiance and started giving him this speech I would have told your child to back off. A five year old knows nothing of addiction or about a complete stranger. It makes me upset and sad that people think its okay or funny that a child would lecture an ADULT about smoking...duh you don't think they know the harm to it?
And the whole thing about Twlight...if you don't like it don't watch it. Yeah maybe the actress does drugs/drinks but thats none of our business. Keep your child away from all the stuff that is bad in the world but don't also let them see once in a while what all this bad stuff can do to people so they aren't tempted. You could say the actress is an example of what you shouldn't do to yourself?

Very, very well said, Cara. The old saying 'garbage in-garbage out' applies, especially in the moulding of our children. Did I go vote on this petition? No, what she does in her private life is her private life. But do I want my grandbabies reading about the undead? Absolutely not! The vampires are shown as, as you say, misunderstood, lost souls that just need a little compassion.

I am just about as laid-back, especially for a person of my advanced years ;), as anyone on this post; however, deliberately giving my babies material that glorifies 'that stuff' is unacceptable!

Sorry, darlings, if you don't feel it is wrong to give your daughters, that is up to you. Whatever I post is MY OPINION.

God bless, all!

I think that if I understand many people's reaction to problem with the Twilight series would be that it shows vampires as normal people, who live lives rather like... us.
But, the problem is that vampires are basically evil, the living dead, and beings that have eternal life as damned souls, usually because of some pact with the devil, and lives from the blood of its victims, usually by killing them, then ... it would seem to be incompatible with basic Christian teachings.
Just for background, according to wikipedia and the dictionary, before the term vampire came into being, it was demons or the devil himself who drank blood in the scary stories.
So... a cute, teen guy, who just happens to be a ...(demon, devil, vampire) but he is nice and cute and sweet and ... in love with your daughter. Oh, ok, he is a (blood sucking whatever), who owes his life to the devil, but he really isn't so bad.
Next logical step would seem to be well, not everything evil is really that evil. Maybe just ... misunderstood. So...next step... if evil really isn't evil, then what about everything else that I thought was wrong? Witchcraft? Drugs? Stealing? Lying? Whatever else my parents said was wrong?
But its just a made up story! Whats the big deal?
Well, as all advertisers know, whatever is repeated in the media, over and over and over, becomes real in the minds of the viewers (kids) that is why it is a big deal when a teen actress gets pregnant, or thrown in jail for drugs. That is why if a designer can get an actress to wear their clothes they will sell, and why when some guy who sings started wearing his pants around his ankles, lots of other guys did too. And why when some movie shows some cool stunt, where the guy ought to die but doesn't, the next month 10 kids die trying to do it at home.
So, when the lines between good and evil get blurred in entertainment, it starts to get blurred in the minds of those who watch it.
Just my take on it :)

I am not trying to start anything. I'm really curious why people find vampires so wrong? Also, in the books Bella waited until she was married to have premarital relations. I would really like to know people's opinoins. Thanks!

I have to admit I just find this whole conversation funny. They are books. Stupid, I think, but don't care if other people enjoy them. Yes, there are vampires. Whoop-di-do. Reading about vampires doesn't turn someone satanic or tear them away from God. I know very strong Christians who are faithful in their walks with God and enjoy these FICTIONAL stories.

And seriously, the producers are going to recast an actress in their multi-million dollar movies b/c of an online petition of people who don't like the actress?

We can't expect Hollywood to provide roll models for our teens. Know their friends. Get them involved in sports, youth group at church, etc. I never met a girl who said, "well, I had sex b/c my favorite actress did."

I think everyone needs to just take a deep breath and lighten up! Smile- God is good, and the world ain't so bad, either. =)

I agree with Brittany it is not our job as christians to judge or criticize people. If anything that is teaching people not to reach out to people who do things "christians" wouldn't do. It is not our job to judge people only God can judge. It is our job to show Christ's love to everyone not just people we think are worthy of his love. Kristen Stewart deserves Gods love and not to be wrote about as a horrible person. This is a fictional book/movie. If your child is able to understand the difference between what is real and what is not real I don't see a problem with watching the movie or reading the books.

I watch/read the Twilight series and does that make me or anyone who does a non-christian like it was stated above it is OUR responsibilty as the parent to teach morals and the series is fictional it isnt intended to teach one thing or another we cant as CHRISTIANS go around and judge/criticize others for how they live thier lives we are only responsible for our lives and the lives of our children until they are adults then we cant even make thier decisions about live for them any more

I would talk with my daughter openly and honestly about what you dont like about the actress. And be careful not to come off judgmental or your child will just rebel and think youre criticizing her for liking this actress! Praying is always the most important thing, but we, as parents, also have a responsibility to always talk about boundaries and good moral behavior with our children. Embrace this as an oportunity to bond and teach. God Bless.

As a Christian, I find the entire vampire stuff to be offensive. I don't see how anyone can stand to watch that nonsense.

It is not up to any actress to set high moral standards for our teenagers. It is our job as parents, to instill good morals and great character in our children. It would be easier if the actresses or actors were leading a charmed life. The truth of the matter is that most people in general don't, so children have to be raised in a manner that will carry them during their teenage and adult years. Let us ban together as parents, and do all we can to insure, that our precious children will not partake in such terrible habits. God bless us one and all.

Okay, here I go again, putting myself up for stoning. I went to check out the Twilight books, to make sure I had my facts right before I opened my mouth, and found out they are indeed about vampires. Helllooo? We are teaching our children to confront adults about smoking and allowing them, even reading with them, about vampires? You are so concerned about the physical (smoking) and completely ignoring their spiritual--what they are putting into their hearts and souls? There are wonderful books written by Christian authors for young girls to read, please, please, read up on them online, then get your young ones these books to read. You are responsible for their spiritual well-being, guiding them along the narrow path. Please, girls, think this one out.

My daughter became addicted to the Twilight Saga and I had to learn what was so obessing. Upon reading the books, I too became very addicted. My daughter did not like Kristen Stewart so I didn't have a problem, but if she did, I would use the opportunity to teach her why Kristen is not a good role model and how the life she lives is not pleasing to the Lord and not putting Kristen on a good path for her life. Most actors and actresses are not good role models and my daughter and I have had many talks on why their lives are not as great as they seem.

@Jean: It's my understanding that the Twilight books were actually written to provide teenagers with an example of a successful serious relationship that did not involve pre-marital sex.

@Michelle: I completely agree, my daughters are only 5 1/2, 3 and 2 months, but we're very open about appropriate and inappropriate actions. My 5-year old actually gave a nice long speech to a complete stranger about the perils of smoking! :)

First of all if you are a Christian you should be avoiding this movie/books etc because this is obviously satanic in nature.
