Offer to help them with it. If they honestly won't do the work I would hide their favorite things till there grade comes up. They can't see it till you see the finished home work.

How old is your child?
Is he/she on IEP?
Special Education?

Hi, , , I have had the same identical problem with my 15 yr old son. He hides his homework OR he rips it up before he gets home. 99% of the time I check his backpack and see that he has homework. My problem is that he doesn't like doing homework. SO i started taking things away from him. and yes he is on an IEP . . .but the school district isn't very interested in staying on top of things.
What about 'No Child Left Behind'? Well my son needs extra help due to his ADHD and FAE!
Check with your childs school to see if the have a website where the teachers post all their activities and grades! You can also ask them for a weekly list of work that hasn't been turned in. This way . . . you can gain control and set up a scheduled time for your child to spend doing homework.
I hope and pray that you find a resolution to this. Knip it in the BUD now!!
God Bless you!

MY KIDS TEACHERS WOULD TAKE AWAY THEIR RECESS IF THEIR HOMEWORK IS NOT DONE BUT THATS GRADE SCHOOL MIDDLE SCHOOL GIVES DMERITS FOR ANY ASSIGNMENTS NOT DONE SO WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR QUARTERLY DAY OF FUN THOSE HAVING OVER 50 DMERITS HAVE TO BE IN THE WORKROOM WHILE OTHERS GO SAY BLOWING,ROLLERSTAKING,ECT THAT SCHOOL PLANS THAT IS SAFE AND FUN .WE ALSO HAVE POWERSCHOOL BUT YOU COULD MEET WITH THE PRINCIPAL TO FIND A PLAN THAT WORKS FOR YOU AS A PARENT TO FIND OUT WHAT THE HOME WORK IS IF POWERSCHOOL IS NOT AVAILABLE TO YOU.THIS SHOWS DAYS ABSENT,GRADES,HW WITH TEACHERS NAME SO YOU CAN CALL THE TEACHER TO ASK DIRECTLY FOR THE ASSIGNMENTS .

Some schools post homework assignments online, maybe your child's school is one. My daughter closely tracks her 14-year-old son's that way. Ditto Kellyl Harmon, raising kids is tough! Praying God's wisdom for you.

I talked to my daughters teacher. Everyday she brought her Agenda home and the teacher signed it with the homework assignments listed. I signed that they were completed.
Good luck its tough.

You can talk to the teachers and heve them sign assignment books. I did that for my son. He had to go to them to get it signed, but they would sign it. We had a punishment here at home if he didn't get them signed. A lot of schools also have a web site where the teachers can publish daily homework assignments. That only works if the teachers actually do it daily. I've found a lot of the teachers don't. Good luck. If your child has an IEP you can get it put right into there that teachers have to sign an assignment book daily.
