Coping with the death of a grandchild?

It's hard to believe that May will mark the two year anniversary of Ricky getting his angel wings. He is in our thoughts everyday. Our Granddaughter misses her brother very much and talks about him all of the time. Our daughter has good and bad days and is very thankful for her daughter who gives her a reason to push on. We know that Ricky is no longer suffering and is in a better place, and we continue to pray for him and all of the children who are battling the different types of childhood cancer. Much more research is needed so that a CURE can be found and no other family needs to go through the pain and heartache that we have endured.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. My family is slowly finding our new normal, as they say. My husband and I have gone to the group Compassionate Friends....it helps being among people who have been through this and know just what you are feeling. Our friends mean well, and are very supportive, but thankfully none of them have had to deal with this loss, and hopefully never will.

Our daughter and granddaughter will be coming to PA in a week for a few days, we haven't ween them since the funeral and are anxious to do so. They are both being helped by therapists, child life specialists, and our daughter did go to her first Compassionate Friends meeting in GA this week.

My heart goes out to you and your family llona. I too lost a daughter at 51/2 almost 6 with Leukemia 31 years ago. She IS and has been OUR Guardian Angel Jennifer. I was blessed with 2 more lovely girls and my youngest just had her/our first baby boy grandson.
It is not easy to lose a child, it takes years, every holiday, birthday, prom, graduation, etc., but you remember the good times and all that bad stuff at the end, that will go away. I still wonder what she would be like at 36 and how many children she would have, see it doesnt stop and it shouldn't they should always be in your hearts, a part of you, until we meet again.

The death of a child is never accepted without questions, no matter how old they get. But what God says is that he will not put on us more than we can bare. Hold onto those words. He has a purpose, though it may be unseen right now. But your precious Grand-son is now sitting at the feet of God, no pain, no tears, just happy & smiling to be in His presence. My thoughts & prayers are with your family, May God give you peace, show you his love & wrap you in his arms! God Bless!

I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO LOSE A GRANDCHILD. I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. LOOK TO GOD FOR STRENGTH AND THE WAY TO HELP THE OTHERS COPE. YOU WILL BE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
