How does one deal with a very sassy, defiant 3yr old that uses messing in their pants to get way?

I so feel for you. I am dealing with a newly 3 year old who changed over night right after his birthday. He is so sassy and defiant but that's why they call it the threatening threes and fretful fours and thankful fives. He also messes in his pants when he wants to be naughty. Basically all you can do is tell them that is not nice and that they need to use the potty. Only babies go potty in their pants, not big girls and boys. My grandson is staring preschool this year and he knows he can't potty in his pants anymore or he can't go to school. Hopefully he wont do it but if he does, he's three and before you know it it's over with and their will be another way they take out their frustrations and anger. Hang in there grandma and I will say a prayer for you.

what if thedaughter wants our help she can't discipline the child alone should we intervene we know he's crying out for attention. this was an abusive DVRC relationship child is getting counseling were not around were retired & traveling she still calls sometime.

Smother them with love, they are looking for attention and you are the one to give it to them. Enjoy your grandkids, it is not your place to discipline
