I'm interested in ideas for keeping in touch with my two out of state grandsons, ages 2 adn 4. We do skype, and call, and send cards and gifts, but I'm looking for additional creative ideas. We are very close to our son and daughter-in-law, but only see them and the kids about once a year.

frequent flier miles, buy tickets in advance an make more trips there or them to you. I go home with my kids and grandchildren as much as I can so family can see us all. What else do we have if not family.

make trip plans half way to a cheap part, state parks even. hotels also have many discounts like AAA, military, aarp, ect.

There are 12 months in a year, if you could make the trip 3x an they do it 1x it wont hurt the wallet. Find the deals online . Good luck

i attended a birthday party for my granddaughter via webcam. they put the laptop on the gift table and some lovely moms at the party kept turning it around so I could see the action and kept it from going to the screen saver (which didn't affect my picture, but kept my image from disappearing. it was fun.

I brought everyone a web cam so we get to see our grandson and he gets to see us. I think that the web cam is one of the best things to come around in a long time. And when my grandson came to visit he knew us because he see us on the computer, and he is only 15monthes old

I know it's old fashioned, but sometimes I bake cookies and send them. seems silly but i think they enjoy it.

I've had some great experiences with phone calls and webcam. Here is an idea I used one year for Christmas but could be used anytime. I took some photos that I had of my granddaughter and one of her toys (my daughter took some extra pics of the toy for me on the sly) and wrote and illustrated a book for her. She was the star (a princess) and the toy was a stuffed dinosaur (who became the hero of the story) I put it all together with the computer and had the pages laminated and put together with plastic spiral binding. I even included my pic on the back cover as the author just like real books. it was a big hit.

Hi Kathy, My son and his family just moved to Alaska! We are very close with him and his family; granddaughter is almost 2. We keep in touch now with Windows Live. You can instant message them and talk live with video cam. on the computer. It's very helpful to us! Give it a try and let me know how you like it.

I have grandchildren that live out of state, too. The ones that don't live close to us think the ones that live by us get better treatment. That is so not true. We send cards and talk on the phone to them as much as we can. It breaks my heart I can't have all of them close to me. I don't really know anything else you can do. If you get any more ideas,I will check them out.

Haven't used skype, so I don't really know what it is. However, I know others have sent videos back and forth. Also, journal letters help. Make sure they actually see pictures of you two. I hope someone else is more creative, cause that's all I have to offer!

Blessings
