I'm NoNee to my crew. I have to agree with your comment. Grandma is the best job in the world. While I do "babysit" whenever needed, my favorite grandma activity is "Special" weekend. That grandchild gets to visit for a weekend or longer. The entire time is devoted to fun activites.

You are so right, Lesley.  No other job can compare.  I am the "Grandma" of six ranging from 16 down to almost 16 months.  It only gets better.

You've got that right, being a grandma is the best job! I just adore my three grandkids. I have an 8 yr old grandaughter, a 6 yr old and 2 yr old grandsons. I just wish I could see them more often, but life and jobs get in the way.

I am a Mimi to 10 ranging from ages 24 down to 2 and there is absolutely NOTHING any better than this position in the family. Old enough to share some wisdom, smart enough to LEARN some wisdom and young enough to still play with them. My oldest granddaughter wants me to will her my shoes, my 9 year old grandson thinks that I am a "tomboy" and my 6 year old grandson thinks I'm "lookin' good!" Out of the mouth of babes. Nope, it does not get any better than this!

Oh, how I wish I could have been a Gramma first!! This is the best role on the stage of life! This looks like it will be a wonderful site to share our joys and perhaps not, about our precious Grandchildren. I am please to be here with all of you. Thanks so much Lesley for starting this group. I am looking forward to meeting everyone else.

I am mamie, as I live in France. My daughter and her two children came to live with us here 18 months ago.

It is hard work having a 7 year old and a 5 year old around but I get so many kisses and cuddles! When my daughter has to work away my husband and I care for the children. So it is a 24/7 thing for us. When she is home we can sit back and be grandparents again.

At the moment I am teaching my granddaughter to knit and she is helping me with card making. I am about to start jewlery making and she wants to help with that too.

We have just got her into swimming club and her brother into soccer club. The little soccer boots are sooo cute! As my husband used to play he is really interested in that.

I am proud of the way that in 18 months both the children have picked up French so quickly and are doing well at school here, they have loads of friends and their reports make their mum really happy.

I have 5 grandchildren aged 2 mon. thru 16.yr I am very close to 3 of them and see them every day but I really miss the other two. I talk to them on facebook and try to stay connected to them that way but it is really hard to keep that close bond when they live so far away

There is no feeling that touches the love for a grandchild. I knew I loved my own child, but this exceeds all my expectations for what I thought love was. Ari is 4 and Chloe is 3 and they are the center of my universe. I talk to them almost daily and see them once or twice a week.

I live 8 hours away from 3 of my grandchildren and 12 hours away from two of them, I make sure that I drive out to see them as often as I can. I will be leaving on Sunday to be with both families and I can hardly wait.

I always heard that you love your children but there is no explanation for the love you feel for a grandchild. I found that out myself on July 13, 2006. I get to see my grandson about once a week and treasure every minute I get to spend with him!

I just love being a grandmother so much, although I do not get to see my grandchildren all that often our times together are precious to me.
