Ok, so I need advice. My husband has always suffered from headaches and sometimes migraines but not all too often. Lately it seems to be a daily occurrence. It seems to be caused by earaches. He went to the doctor two separate times. The first time the doctor told him it was not an ear infection but there is some wax build up in his ear. So they gave him Flo nase. That seemed to help but when it was gone that was the end of it. The pain came back. So the second time he went back and they told him the same thing. The doctor told him to plug his nose and blow to try and clear out his ears. He drugs himself constantly it seems to relief himself of the pain. I feel like I am loosing my husband to all these headaches because he gets them so bad that he gets sick. Please help me. What can I do? I really want my husband back. Is there some homeopathic way to remove wax build up in the ear? It is in there far enough that no one can reach it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The first thing I would do is find a good Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. I've never heard of migraines & headaches being caused by ear wax! So maybe something else is happening there.

I am a migraine sufferer and find that I have a lot of triggers that set them off - hormones, certain foods, orange juice.

Certain aromas will trigger migraines for me. Any sort of flowery perfume and especially lavender (which is weird because lavender is supposed to help migraines).

MSG is a big trigger for me too. I will break out in a rash and have the worst migraine ever if any food has this in it.

Some triggers are:

* Hunger - make sure you eat regular small meals

* Alcohol - go easy :)

* Environmental factors (e.g., weather, altitude, time zone changes)

* Caffeine - coffee, chocolate etc. Chocolate almost deserves a slot of it's own.

* MSG - monosodium glutamate - usually found in Chinese food. Essentially a form of salt.

* Nitrates - usually found in processed food.

* Too much sunlight and/or glare

* Hormonal changes in women - you know, that time of month.

* Lack of sleep - don't stay up on the internet too long reading this! ;)

* Medication - unless it's migraine medication of course... let's hope that doesn't cause migraines... ;P

* Strong Smells / Perfumes / Fragrances

* Stress

I read a study that suggested chocolate doesn't actually cause a migraine, the migraine causes a craving for chocolate. Cravings can be a warning for an onset and I take Imigran (sp?).

Some home treatments include:

-- Have a bath or shower.

-- Lie down to rest in a dark room.

-- Avoid bright or flashing light.

-- Put something cold on the back of your neck, such as a cold, wet cloth; or alternate hot and cold cloths

where the pain is.

-- Put a cold compress on your forehead and your feet in a container of warm water.

-- Have a drink of water or natural juice, especially tomato juice.

-- Have some food, or a nutritious drink, if you haven't eaten for a while.

-- Massage your own face, head, neck and shoulders, or get someone else to do those and your back. Relax your muscles.

-- Press on two pressure points at the back of the neck. These points are about two inches apart, just below the base of the skull. Press for a minute or two. This releases endorphins that help against pain.

-- Massage or press on the fleshy area between thumb and forefinger.

-- Gently lean the head to left or right to stretch the neck muscles. Massage and relax any tense muscles.

-- Avoid sources of stress. Cancel activities so there's less to worry about.

-- Avoid exercise during a headache if it makes throbbing pain in the head and neck worse. On the other hand, generally exercise improves health, and it may help you relax during a headache.

Green tea is supposed help as well.

Hope this can help in anyway.
