we are suddenly full force potty training with my not quite 2 year old girl... when she isn't too busy, any little bit of wet means changing diapers. After my floors and couch (and husband) finished groaning in protest, i nixed the idea of all day naked baby, she gets busy and forgets, despite frequent potty trips and reminders. my mom suggested trying pull-ups, because she isn't quite at the " training panties" stage. we tried them, and although she loves the "step into" part of it, i hate that it is really just a disposable with side elastic and a princess picture.... are there any good cloth trainers out there? or patterns?

You might want to try Nikky or Niji brand trainers, and if you purchase them from http://babyworks.com, she has a return policy that is completely unbelievable if the trainers don't fit your string bean. :) My son is the opposite, sort of large and solid, and I always feel comfortable buying from Babyworks so that I can return if I have to.

the kushies are, of course, no longer available at our local walmart, which i only braved because it said online that they were... i have a super skinny, tall string bean of an acrobatic little girl, so i need to be able to check fit before i go whole hog and purchase. i'm thinking home made again, did that with her first diapers, then had some i ordered as she outgrew those. those princess disposables that gramma convinced my to try have taken us back a step i think... thanks for all the suggestions and links!

I actually got turned on to cloth diapering when my little girl was potty training. I used little panties during the day and she was fine, but at night she couldn't make it. I found Happy Trainers by Happy Heiny's and was just amazed. They work great for dry nights. She would sleep 12 hours and they never leaked. I don't know if you would want to use them in the daytime because they are just as absorbent as a diaper and she will probably not feel wet, but this may help with nights. I hated the pull ups during the day. My girl treated them like a diaper and was only trained when I took them away. The happy trainers are made with or without side snaps. Mine were without so that they would look just like underwear - they run big, so if your looking keep that in mind.

I've been blogging recently about diapers/training pants to use on my 23 month old son who is almost ready for potty training, and outgrowing his onesize dipes. We've tried a few things that we like and I'm going to add a new blog post tomorrow or the next day listing a couple of other new training pants/diapers we've tried. http://secretmommy.blogspot.com Click on the "cloth diapers" label on the left side of the page.

I have ImseVimse training pants. They aren't waterproof, but they do absorb most of a pee. That way the kids get it that their pants get wet but it doesn't make a mess. Poop is kind of a pain though. Maybe liners would work; I didn't have them with my first and haven't tried them much with my second. I also saw some in One Step Ahead which are waterproof and cheaper. Good luck!

if you want to make them the pattern I use which is free is katrina's soaker http://katrinassqs.blogspot.com/2007/10/... , it's a pull up style. I make it with fleece and put something absorbant covered by flannel in the wet zone so she knows when she's gone potty either that or I use ditto daddy http://www.thewahmmall.com/index.php?mai... which is also free, I love them both and they sew up pretty easy

Bummis sells a complete kit of organic cotton diapers, covers, liners starting at $136.00 - they are by far and away the best deal out there. I have used them, along with the Bamboo diapers (bamboozles) and they are phenomenal. I simply wash them 2x per week, and I'm done...couldn't get any easier. They also sell a fabulous line of training underpants, they are good - I've used them on 2 of my children so far,and they hold up very very well. http://www.thefunkymama.com/diapersetc.h...

Snap Ez were the best imo. They have pul or fleece outer, side snap. The stuffable ones are great because you can adjust the absorbancy to whatever you need...day, nap, bed...My favorite for bed was the fleece outer stuffable ones, I think it was Nap Ez but I'm not sure they make new ones anymore. Try Diaperswappers and see if you can find some on fsot.
I am actually about to make some of my own for nap and bed for my girls who are day trained out of obv contours, pul and foe. I don't have a pattern though, I'm just winging it lol.

Starbunz makes Super Undies, which I think Super Undies is it's own brand, it used to be a pocket trainer, not sure what they are like now, but check out www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com That is where I got mine from, but it was almost 2 years ago and I use mine in my daycare and they have held up well.

I love the kushies AIO style. they are cheap and come in all sorts of cute prints. I have some that have been through 3 kids and washed on hot withthe diapers and they still look brand new. You can buy them at walmart for $9 a pair. I have also used the gerber pull on trainers with pull on covers and they work too. You can even just sew a soaker into regular underwear and then use a pull on cover if you are going out. I just recently saw some really cute home made ones at a baby shop where the WAHM had sewn a soaker into liscenced charater panties brief and even boxer briefs they were super cute and you could let her pick out the characters she likes so she is less likely to want to wet them and get them dirty. I would use a layer of microfibre under a layer of flannel for the soaker pad so it was more absorbant without having to be too thick.
