Best diapers for overnights?

Hello! I'm looking for advice as to which diapers are best for overnight wear. Currently we use prefolds during the day with basic plastic pants. But this is not able to hold up to our super soaker daughter! I am hoping to get just a couple for night wear, we are very happy with the prefolds during the day, just need something a little more absorbent!

Do you suggest pockets? Doubling up diapers? Using diaper "doublers"? We are looking for the best solution to avoid disposables for night times. Thanks for your advice!!

My son wears 2 prefolds with a wool cover and night. I think is lanacare soaker could double as body armor!

I saw you mentioned your daughter has ezcema and you are worried about allergies. My son and I both have ezcema and the wool is fine. You wash them in a very mild solution and then soak them with some lanolin, so they are quite hypoallergenic. You might even find it helps her skin because it breathes so well.

we have a special on right now, when you order 12 FuzziBunz you can get them at $20 each plus shipping (depends on which state you're in)
That deal rocks because even without the sale Bum Genius is still more expensive!
Let me know and you can order them through my site: http://www.healthyinitiatives.net

Check out http://www.clothbabybums.com There are some great Stacinator covers and add a hemp insert with your prefold and it should work well, My 2 1/2 year old is a huge wetter at night and these have worked wonders :)

Yeah Elizabeth, I thought that was funny too. No offense, Lesley. But even in a disposable, there is still urine in the diaper and bacteria can multiply, so there's no advantage to a disposable. I would argue, if you truly can't get a cloth diaper to work for you, then try a diaper change in the middle of the night. I've heard it works for some moms. Otherwise, why not two thirsty thirsty prefolds and some stretchy wool? I know it looks goofy, but it's def better for baby's skin than a disposable and if it works, you know, night time isn't a fashion show.

The Gro Baby doublers, even if you don't have the system, are really trim and very absorbent.

(Elizabeth, I think we are kindred spirits! I bet your business will take off leaps and bounds! We all will be interested in knowing how it goes; I'll be checking back to this community often to see if you post about it!!)

"It is EXTREMELY rare for anyone to be allergic to wool. Most people who think they are allergic to wool are really allergic to the chemicals used in some of the processes to make wool into clothing. Wool used for cloth diapering is so very soft, and has many of the natural oils (lanolin) left in the fibers.

It would be kind of like being allergic to your own hair, is how rare it is to truly be allergic to wool."

Absolutely correct, Jen! :)

"I use a disposable at night since my son sleeps 12-13 hours, I don't want him in a wet diaper all night. The target generic brand works fine for us. One diaper a day doesn't make me feel to guilty either."

Um no matter if he's in cloth or disposable it's still a wet diaper. LOL

I just started using Happy Hempy's stuffed with a hemp prefold and a fleece cover. I just found this websote called thefind.com and its really helps compare prices at different stores. My kid leaked through everything before this including sposies. This combo has really worked!!

Quoting user:

Thanks! I just ordered some Bum Genius, they seem to be the best rated for super absorbency!

Elizabeth- Thanks, we are concerned about using wool though because our daughter has bad eczema that is aggravated by several different materials.

My daughter is a super soaker too. We use prefold during the day and they're great, but at night we have to use the overnight disposables...they're the only thing that'll keep her halfway dry (and sometimes I still have to change her at night occasionally). But it's the best thing we've found. We tried the ones with pockets and she freaked out. So that's what works for her at night...I wish we could do it cloth, but won't work for her.
