I just found out my baby arriving in May is a boy, and we are having a heck of a time coming up with names. My husband won't go with anything too unusual and I don't want too common. I have my own dumb reasons for wanting A or D names. So I thought I'd do a pole and see if I can come up with something! Suggestions anyone?

Lets see if I can help out (my DH and I couldn't come up with any boy names before our baby was born...thankfully it was a girl!)

Asher, Alan/Allen, Amos, Alvin, Andre,

Dylan, Domitri, Dominic, Dakota, Damien, Daryl/Darrell, Darren, Derek

Ok, that is all I can think of...hope that helps

Our potential names were Alexander and Dylan (and David but my cousin really wanted that one so we bumped it from our list). They are common enough names that no one will be confused with how to spell it or pronounce it etc. but not overused and trendy. We ended up going with Alexander because of the different variations...he can go by Alexander, Alex or Al when he gets older (but I can still use the full Alexander when I need to get him in trouble, haha)

We wanted either Aiden or Wyatt for my son. neither of which i thought were common (i have wanted those names since highschool). well as i see from previous posts,  i was wrong but it is still a beautiful name. I have a friend Aari and I always loved that. Anatole is another that i love. you could tell your husband you're honoring your french heritage! Aaron seems to be less common than it was.

My DH is Anthony Damon, so there are 2 names right there.  LOL

I guess it depends on if you like classic names or more trendy names.  I am a classic name kinda girl.

Andrew, Aaron, Adam

Daniel, Darren, Darius

Good luck in your search!

How about Douglas. Also I've always liked Andrew and David - but maybe too common for you. I don't think Anthony has made much of a comeback recently. Aidan and Declan/Dylan seem quite common at daycare lately so my opinion would be to not use them.

I love A names, I would have had Aric, or Aron for my boy, but I have an A name for my girl. I've heard of Ander, don't mind that too. Adrian? (my daughter is Adria!)
D, I had Drew picked out, I also like Derek, David or Davin. Haven't heard Declan for a few years.
I don't think its dumb to have a certain letter. I always chose some letters I liked first and went from there! There are just certain letters I would never have names starting with :P

Dylan was one of the names I was considering when I was pregnant with my daughter, I didn't know what I was having so it was a back-up name in case I had a boy.

My older son's name is Aiden. When my husband and I chose it we thought it would be a bit uncommon but not too unusual. However, our son is almost 3 years old and now we hear the name Aiden everywhere! We still love it though :-) I also have a 4 month old boy named Elliot. How about Devon or Dylan for D names? Have fun with your little boy!!

I've always like the name Aiden... though I think it's actually become one of the most common baby names lately, so you may not want it.

Ari is another one I like a lot.

D... I'm drawing a blank there
