Bum genius diapers are not good!

I would consider going onto Diaperswappers or another site and selling them!  Lots of moms would be interested, and you could recoup at least part of your investment.

And as for the stains, have you tried soaking in oxyclean?

I've been using BGs for 8 months now and haven't had a problem. We use them for outings and sleep. Initially, we were using AIOs, but we've switched to 3.0s and love them. So far, no problem with the velcro. We wash them at least twice weekly with regular detergent (Cheer free and gentle) and stick them in the dryer everytime (on medium). So far, I've only had one leak and I think that was my error, not the diaper's. My only problem is that my son is outgrowing them. He's only 8 months and already we've had to expand them all the way.

I strongly disagree. We have tried countless diapers, from larger companies such as FB, BG, Drybees, Happy Herinys to WAHM ones galore...pockets, fitteds, AIOs. And ultimately after months of trying things out, we are using BGs, with the occasional Thirsties AIO so I get a pocket-stuffing break.

I found that pockets in general leak for stomach sleepers, and fitteds are best for naps and nights, and babies who are on their stomachs alot. So from about 4-6 months we used a lot of fitteds, but since crawling began, pockets have worked for everything but sleep.

I like my Bum genius 3.0, THe velcro looks all old but I guess thats to be expected and I have only had them a few months but no leaks here. They hold wetness well. The inserts are not my favorite but I use haunte pocket insert becuase they hold more. Overall thet are fine with me

I have used bum genius forever, and never had leaks BUT at first they smelled very very dirty even thought I was washing them... thats when I discoved AMAZE laundry soap booster... So I would have to say I dont agree with you. Sorry.

I LOVE our bum genius diapers - my daughter is 9 months and we've never used anything else except a few disposable ones the first week she got home from the hospital. Some of the velcro has gotten a little curly, but not too badly, and certainly if she's wearing a onesie it makes no difference at all. We have 22 of them and wash roughly every other day - my husband does almost all the washing, so they go through the dryer on medium and get rinsed an extra time. I love them!

Cody...have you ever looked at Hugga Buns diapers.  They are great pocket diapers that now come with a bamboo insert (used to be a hemp one - and some of these may still be available).  I think the sizing of the larges is great.  Some people think they are too big, but I didn't have any trouble getting them to fit on my dd through her potty training.  They have great craftsmanship, they are snap diapers, and they are inexpensive.  I know it is tough to switch from something you know and have already paid for, but your little one's comfort is the goal.   www.huggabuns.com

I'm pretty sure that the company gaurantees their product. If you write them and tell them that the stitching is falling out, they will let you return it, or they will replace it.

Bumgenius works really well for us. It took a while for him to grow into them, they fit him around three months. He was/is a peanut, and they were just too big for him.

p.s. my son is BIG (27lbs @ 15 mos) and our one size dipes (B.G. and HAUTE) are starting to rub spots on his body (at his hips on the outside).  Has any one else had this trouble?  Any suggestions? I can't afford to buy a whole new stock but I don't want to give up cloth.  Thanks.

WOW...I have been using Bum Genius 3.0 for over a year and I LOVE them.  I am sorry to hear you are having such a bad experience:(  I have never had any leaks and mine are still in really good shape (although the velcro tabs get all stuck together in the wash).  I hope you have better luck with other cloth diapers.

I also love my BG's! I use the 3.0 pockets in a rotation with fb's, bumkins all in ones, and prefolds with covers. But still it seems that every diaper we own gets washed twice a week. I never put my bg or fb covers in the dryer, only the inserts and my wipes and prefold diapers. Mine are about 7 months old but still look like new with no stains or velcro problems. Doesn't bumGenius have a long warranty for your diapers? I know you say you are working with them, but it seems like they'll make it right if something is wrong...

We have both bum genius 2.0 & 3.0 in the rotation. We only use them at night, & I never put them in the dryer. Our long skinny 19 month girl only had problems with them when she was a newbie & bf poo leaked out on a couple of occasions. Once her chicken legs filled out a bit, we had no problems with that. She wears the same dipe all night & if she leaks it's usually my fault. She doesn't piddle much when she is sleeping, so we only stuff it with a regular + an infant insert.

The velcro is still good, she doesn't leak - they have worked for us!

Chantel, do you mean putting them in the dryer enhances the velcro? Or NOT putting them in does? I've never put mine in the dryer, but the velcro on a couple of them is horrible. As in, the diaper fell off! Maybe I'm spoiled by my bummis, I've been using those for years without problems.

I have BG 3.0 and love them they have only leaked so far when I haven't been able to chage him soon enough which is my fault not the diapers.

My bg 3.0's still look brand new after 6 mths of using them..I don't toss them in the dryer everytime..only every 3rd..this enhances the velcro and makes it stick much better. I haven't had to really test that hteory but other cd moms I have talked too said it helped and I just never seen tthe point in putting them in the dryer all the time since they don't take long to dry!!!

I, too, have been using BG for over a year and have loved them since the beginning. The velcro is curling a bit, but I think that is to bee expected. They still stick well and fit my little girl. They have leaked a bit around the legs, but that is after being in them all night and to be expected. They do say, for extra absorption to add the infant liner in addition to the normal liner. I tried that once, but found it too bulky for my daughter, she's quite tiny, only 17 pounds at 1 year. I have to agree with Karen, that it probably depends on your baby and the diaper, just trial and error till you find one that works with your child. Sorry to hear that you have been problems, that would definitely be frustrating, especially after paying so much for one diaper! I hope you find one that works better :)

I bought my BG 1.0s used and have been using them for almost 17 months. I am starting to have problems with the velcro on a few. I'm going to try to replace it with new velcro-- I'll let you know how it works! I also have some 2.0s I got on seconds sale that I'm not wild about the velcro on, but it's ok. I'm obsessive about securing my tabs, though, so maybe that has helped.

I love both my BG and my FB, and I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with them.

I love my bG. Have been using them pretty much all the time for 15 months now, so I'm surprised to hear about your problems. I Have the bG2.0 one size pockets. Is this a problem with their newer models? 

After 15 months the covers are showing some wear of course - the velcro curls a bit, but sticks well still. I have on AIO and that isn't holding up as well as the pockets - it's a bit mishapen now, and the velcro is really loosing it's stick on that one.

As for the leaks - well I've always heard that that's very dependent on the shape and size of your baby. Some babies suit one brand of nappy more than others. I Iwas obviously lucky and the first kind I tried worked well. I've tried a few others (FB, Blueberry) but found nothing I like better than the bG. We have gone through phases of more or less leaks. Now at ~2 years and 30lb my long skinny girl is doing great in the bGs on their max expansion. They also worked well on her at 1 month old in the smallest setting. I just use the microfiber inserts which came with them - either triple stuffed, or boosted with a hemp insert at night. Just by themselves during the day.

Sorry to sound like a bG advert, but I think having different opinions on here will be useful. Sorry you're having so much trouble. Stick with it!

yeah i like my BG when i use a green kid bamboo insert in them, I have also noticed that the velcro is starting to curl and loose its stick and i have been using them for only 4mths now :(

I use my BG in rotation with prefolds. So far, they seem to be holding up well, but I did notice that the velcro on some of them is not sticky enough anymore, and sometimes gets loose. I pretty much just reserve them for when we're out and about and I don't want to mess with prefolds.
