motherease are the best diapers on the market, will last through several children. made soft terry cloth, have well made snaps and snap in liners, covers come in several sizes. we tried a few types and these were definitely our favorite. made in Canada.

My son is also very long. We started in Bum Genius but had nothing but problems. We switched to Thirsties Duo-Wrap-Snap with a prefold. I LOVE the covers!!! They have held up beautifully and last forever size wise due to the front snap adjustments. There are only 2 sizes which should get you through all of the diapering years. I am so glad we switched!

I would highly recommend getting any of the pocket one-size diapers that grow with your baby. I have used BumGenius and Happy Heiny's, and have used the same ones for nearly 18 months now. I just recently tried the GrowVia nappies and love them too! They are a one-size diaper, but not pocket-type. I purchased Smartipants for my daughter when she was first born, they are an all in one diaper that grows with them just like the bumgenius without the all the cost.

you have a good while before they start trying to take them off. my daughter just figured it out and she's 18 months. we use small size Kushies, which I like because they are thin and seem to breathe a little. i also have an adjustable thirsties which has three sets of snaps so that you can change the size and use it for a long tim. for my infant son i use thirsties, imse vimse (which is my favorite) and pro wraps (which are good if your child has larger thighs. i love all of them except for the pro wraps - i just had a few left over from when my daughter was small, and there's no sense buying more of that size right now because he's growing like a weed!

All great suggestions, but everyone always has their their favs. I always tell parents to buy only one of each in 2 or 3 brands and use them a few times. That way you find which brand suits you and the baby best. Once you decide which you like, buy a bunch of those. And you would always have the others on hand as back up.



PS-My personal favs are Imse Vimse :-), but I have lots of brands.

I would highly recommend Thirsties Duo wrap. She is almost ready for size 2 which will take her through potty training. It is 18-40 lbs and has snaps! Also double gussets. I think they work better than the bummis. The flip one-size is also a great cover to try.

We use both sized and duo thirsties covers. They work great on my 15 pounds, 25 in. long 13 week old. Will be trying the Flip cover shortly as I bought one this week from the "Seconds" sale.

My son opens aplix, too. I really like the BumGenius EconoBum covers, they are super affordable! I like their Flip covers, too. And we use wool at night for absorbency.

I love my Flip diapers. My "stable" includes BumGenius 3.0s, Happy Heinys, BumGenius AIOs, and the Flip system. Major design flaw on most pocket diapers and all-in-ones - the fleece is on the outside, and often the baby's clothing will wick out the moisture. Ick. We have never had a blow-out or a leak with the Flip covers. We use the stay-dry insert plus a thin doubler during the day (11 mo old... started drinking lots of water!) and a stay-dry over an organic at night. The night option is bulky but keeps the baby butt looking good and rash-free!

once she is older is doesnt really matter if it is snap or velcro...if she can open velcro she can undo snaps. My son does both and I just keep pants on him to solve the problem

I also want to say that Thirsties does make a snap cover, however my daughter is 12 months and pays no mind to the aplix ones, and they fit much better and last much longer. The snaps aren't the best quality on the duo wraps unfortunately, but the aplix is strong and unlike many other diapers doesn't get gross after several washes.

I have one Bummis Super Whisper Wrap - it is my least favorite. Overnight, I have a disana wool cover. It is AMAZING!! For daytime diapering, I use Thirsties Duo Wraps, ALSO amazing. Diaperpin.com is a wonderful site where other mamas review their cloth products. So if anybody makes a suggestion for something you want to try, that site is great to see what other mamas are saying.

Thirsties Duo wraps...I absolutely love them. I raised two boys and tried various coves with them and with her I saw these. two sizes is all you need... size one goes to about 20 pounds and size tow goes to 40 pounds. I bought 3 wraps and rotate them out and have never had a problem. My little girl will be 1 soon and I just went up to the next size. They use the snaps to get the best fit and I have had no leaking problem. I put a fresh clothie on right before I lay her down and she can sleep all night without a leak...I highly recommend them!!! Best of all you can order them on e-bay from a e-bay store and they run about 32$ for 3 so the price is great to.

The BEST covers ever are from CYA: Cloth for Your Angel. I recommend the cashmere (wool) covers. They are so soft and work so well. My suggestion is sending her an old cashmere sweater that you already have or buying one from Ebay. It's a steal at $12! There are none better!!!

I'm in love with my flip covers!
They are just a cover so you don't have to wash them each change, like some of the ones with insert pockets. It's also easy to clean (almost plastic on the inside) so I can hand wash it easy if it's not time for laundry, and it drys fast as well. It's got adjustable snaps so it's once size fits all (up to 35lbs, and also fits fairly snug on newborns at least around 7-8lbs up). No where near as bulky as the other kinds of cloth I first tried out, and the flip inserts are nice and thin so don't take up a lot of laundry space, and they also have a stay dry surface that works brilliantly! keeps baby dry, and absorbs like crazy!! I just love these covers!! I just wish they came in a few different colors or had some patterns.

I vote wool. They are super easy to make yourself out of upcycled sweaters too.

Or fleece or wool soakers. There is a great free pattern to sew your own - look for Katrina's free soaker pattern. There are also tons of mamas out there who sell soakers made from this pattern

we use baby beehinds and i find them awesome. no leaks yet. but they do have a hook and loop closure. they sell for $12 and come in a range of lovely bright colours!!! good luck

love our thirsties cover! we don't have the snap kind and my son is 18 months old and hasn't tried to take his diaper off. you have plenty of time before she would even be trying. my son is long and skinny and we just got into the large size thirsties cover. the med lasted a very long time!!!

I love our BumGenius 3.0 diapers. I have the hook and loop closures and they are very strong, but they also offer all snap closures too. The diapers expand out to grow with your child.

I LOVE using wool covers. They are very easy to clean and maintain and keep baby cool in summer/warm in winter. Very breathable so no rash ever! Good Luck!
