Diaper Rash Home Remedies

Hey ladies, I've heard several great suggestions for diaper rash creams, but I don't have time to order one, I need something now! My son has a rash that is obviously not yeast. It's a "burn", if you will. It's raw. His whole bottom was red, and now none of it is red except for two spots that are raw. I think I finally figured out the problem. We had him in gDiapers using prefolds instead of their cloth inserts (to save money). I really think he was getting a urine burn. We switched to FuzziBunz about a week ago and the rash immediately started clearing up (probably because of the wicking material that's closest to his bottom), but these two little areas are still raw. Can I use anything from home that is safe on CDs? Vaseline, olive oil, Triple Antibiotic salve? I've read other websites that have tons of home remedies for diaper rash, but I don't know if any of them work well, or if any of them are safe for CDs. Any suggestions?

Oh, BTW, I have let him air out and put butt paste on him for about 30 minutes a few times in the last couple days, but it's still there.

My oldest son had the exact same thing happen with me. I couldn't keep the raw rash off him, even though I tried several things and various cds and combinations (bumgenius, gdiapers, prefolds, etc), it kept coming back. We determined in my case his urine was really strong, and so amonia built up on the dipes causing the rash, I could just smell the ammonia every time it got wet. To get rid of it I had to strip the diapers and sun them all the time, let my son run around naked at least 1x a day for about 15 minutes. But to get rid of it in the 1st place I had to use a heavy diaper rash cream (shopko's brand worked best for us) with a liner to protect the diaper. I tried cornstarch & olive oil & petroleum jelly & lansinoh, which all worked to PREVENT a rash ( but I still used a liner), but to get rid of it we needed something with zinc oxide in it. I feel your pain. I can still see those 2 terrible looking red sores that just wouldn't go away!. Antibiotic ointment when you let him run naked helps heal that up, too. Hope you find something that works for you!

how about... Lanolin! do you have any left over from nursing? It works great and it is CD safe! plus it can be picked up at the grocery store. hope it helps.

Olive oil is a good one. Since its not a yeast rash - cornstarch should also work.
