What kind of diaper rash cream do you all use with your cloth diapers? I used to have to switch my son back to disposables to use the desitin, but with baby #2 on the way I want to avoid that this time. I know rash is less common since I used cloth for almost 18 months with my boy, but it still happens, and I know you can't use creams on most of the types of cloth.

The doctor told me to use a 1-1 ratio of cold cream and Maalox mixed together and this works like a charm. He also said if you want to reduce the redness you can add a 1% cortisone cream. My baby had this bright red rash for days and nothing worked, but this overnight reduced it and in 24 hours it was gone.

omg, my daughter had a persistent rash when she we switched her from breast milk to whole milk. She was pooping 3-5 times a day! We tried lanolin, boudreax butt paste, bag balm, etc. (the bag balm actually worked pretty good and didn't leave much residue on her dipes) We even washed her butt very gently under the faucet and dried completely every change. But the rash did not completely go away until we switched to the lansinoh wipes! You usually only need one wipe to get all the poop off (sometimes two for big messes, but never 3) and they leave a thin coat of lanolin. They are sooooo soft and gentle. Just buy one pack and you'll be sold!! They are kinda spendy, so I only using them when she has a rash or when she poops. I still gotta use my old wipes for pees. Then I'm gonna go back to cloth wipes for pees, but i'm still gonna use the lansinoh wipes for poops and rashes!!!

I did order that Earth mama one, but wasn't sure if I could use it without a bunch of protective inserts and whatnot.

I swear by Earth Mama Angel Baby bottom balm. I just love that stuff. In fact, my hubs and I use it, too, if we get a little cut, scrape, bug bite or some other minor skin ailment. If my son starts to get a wee rash (usually from eating too many oranges or tomatoes) I put a thin layer on his bottom before bed and his rash is gone in the morning. It's completely safe to use with all different cloth diapers. No protective materials necessary. I do also like Grandma El's or lanolin.

I use burt's bees diaper cream with a piece of fleece between his tush and the diaper to protect it, and this works well for us.
