Diapering in public

if im out and about i will usually head to a parent room (we have fantastic ones in the town i live in... and lovely and clean too!) and use a change table. i put a terry flat down to change in public places regardless of how clean it looks.

if i cant get to a parent room i use the boot of the car or the parcel shelf... lots of room... plus our back seat is full of baby car seats.

if i cant do it in the car... stroller it is!

i think the park is the only place i have changed on a mat on the ground... there is usually a parent room close enough to use!

I have 4 children and sometimes you just need to.
I agree I wouldn't change where people eat but a park bench no problem.

I either change my baby in the car or in the stroller. I have those nasty changing tables at public places especially the park. ewwww.... The only time I use the public changing table is when I don't have the stroller and the car is too far (which is rarely). But bring some disinfecting wipe is a good idea. I have to give that a try.

I have changed her diaper anywhere that I could find enough space. Sometimes there aren't may options.

I guess I don't get out much other than my friends homes for play-dates. We usually are not out for more than 2 hours so we don't even have a diaper change. At my friends homes I just whip out the changing pad and take care of my babies. I never really thought about it.

I use a changing pad over the avalailable changing table and usually wipe down with a baby wipe first. If you don't like that, use clorox wipes, clorox only needs 30 sec of contact time for germ killing. Just don't forget which container is which and use them on baby! LOL I think that it is rude to change where people are eating also, but otherwise, you have to change when you have to change, if there is no good private place avaliable, then use the best you have. Babies are people too!
For the same reason, I flatly refuse to breast feed in the bathroom, you wouldn't eat there, why should a baby!

I do find that people tend to be curious when I change her, but I think that perhaps it's not my judgement on where I'm changing her, but the diaper itself. FuzziBunz are rather unique looking and colorful. Plus she's a little thing and the diapers are so fluffy on her that she looks like she has a bean bag for a booty. lol

I suppose I never thought about the Hepatitis factor. I always use a changing wallet on top of the fold out table, but germs and such could still be a problem. More of a reason to not use the restroom if I don't have to...

Not only do I change her in public, she's spent plenty of public strolls diaper-less (outside only! and when I don't expect a poo). Of course, I would never do that in a place people are eating, it is rude IMO. So, when in places I want to be discreet for politeness I have also used the car or stroller. I have only used one of those tables once as my DD is extremely upset by commercial toilets flushing, and they are usually not cleaned like the rest of the bathroom. (take my chances with hepatitis? no thanks, yes there are disinfectants, but they are supposed to sit for 10 minutes before it is done working).

Majaliwa is right!!! A lot of those changing table areas are nasty. Typically I have the stroller with me and I just lay that flat back and change him in there. I do try and find somewhere somewhat private to do it but hey if you don't have a choice, you don't have a choice.

I change my baby in my car if I can't find a changing table. At the park is different but I'd never just toss my baby down and change his diaper in a store or restaurant like I've seen other moms do.

My first choice is to find a changing table or at least a private-ish area if my baby is poopy (smelly) or we're at a restaurant. But when I can't find something suitable, I just change him wherever I can. Last weekend I changed him in an empty shopping cart at Home Depot! That got a few laughs from fellow shoppers!

I don't think it is. Sometimes its just more convenient and sometimes the places that have changing tables are disgusting.
