Do you wipe after wee?

Upon consent/suggestion from our doctor, we only wipe our boy/girl twins after bms. Then we use cloth wipes with warm water (from a pump pot) without any added soap. We wash the wipes along with our diapers using Country Save detergent. While we have had a few rashes in their 18 months, a little bit of naked time seems to clear them right up. Hope this helps.

I don't use a wipe after pee. I do use cloth wipes after a poo and just fold it up in my diaper and launder it with them. I had read that pee is sterile and never ran into issues with my daughter who is now potty trained.

Thanks everyone for your advice - I'll try wiping from now on and see if it makes a difference - thanks also for the offer of making some wipes Julie but I live in NZ so by the time you posted them they would be worth a lot more than two dollars! I'll buy some myself and see how that goes.

Could I take you up on that offer?  I've been wanting to try cloth wipes for a while.  I even bought some fabric, but I have finally admitted to myself that I will never make time to hem them. :p

Oh, and I wipe everytime at home, but sometimes when we're out and it's hectic, I skip the wet only ones.

we always wipe. don't wanna leave stale pee there.. but you don't have to use anything special, water works.
we have a combo of sposie wipes and reusable wipes. my solution for our wipes has soap and some essential oils

so I have about the same thing to say as everyone else. I would stop using the disposible wipes there is probably something that he is haveing a reaction to. I would wipe after every change with his skin sensitivity. And I would use just water to wet the wipes! :)

I wipe my kids after everything...ever been stuck in a public restroom with no toilet paper? Adults can get diaper rash too! I use washcloths, wet with only water, in a wipe warmer. I just wash them with the diapers. I do make sure to dry their bottoms well with a different cloth diaper too.

Also, when I am using disposable wipes, I tear them in half when it's just a wet diaper. It doesn't take much to clean that up, and using half makes my wipes last longer.

I sometimes don't wipe and was wondering the same thing. I just use plain water in a squirt bottle for my wipes and I wash them with my diapers in the same load. I found it to be a hassle to throw out disposable wipes in the garbage, especially after you've cleaned a poopy mess. I still have disposable wipes on hand though, my husband prefers them for some reason.

I wipe my baby every time. My opinion is... do you wipe when you go pee? I would get "stingy" if i didn't! Baby pee may be sterile... but it still is urine. I use disposable wipes and do a quick swipe every diaper change... and I NEVER have rash except when i use disposables... so that is how i weigh in.

I wipe after every pee because my son has sensitive skin - because of the the ammonia like you said. I switched over to cloth wipes after having a particularly bad bout of diaper rash that 4 doctors in a row told me was yeast. Eventually, I found a doctor that said that it wasn't yeast at all and to try some neosporin. Cleared up in 3 days. haven't had an issue since. I don't know if that's is anywhere close to issues that you're having with his skin but I always pass it on, just in case. We wash our wipes with our diapers and find it much easier thatn trying to throw away wipes and put diapers in the bin. They all go in the same place. We got a wonder bag - two sided wet bag - and put clean diapers and wipes in one side and dirty in the other for when we go out. Good luck with your sensitive skin boy! :-)

I wash my wipes with my diapers, and just put a little water and handsoap in a bottle and keep it on the changing table.



I do wipe after pee... I had the same problem with my son, and the rashes were from all the chemicals in the wipes.



I was just rinsing the disposable wipes with water, but then I realized I can save several dollars a week if I just cut up flannel and zigzagged the edges to prevent fraying... it's super easy!!!

Do you sew?
