I was just wondering if anyone uses flats? Which fold do you use and what do you think of them? Where do you get good quality flats? Just curious! Still looking at inexpensive options!

i used flats with my son when he was a newborn it worked great and they fit wonderfully. I couls till use them if i wanted but when he fits into the pockets i have i just use them (pockets). I did a few folds when i used them so i did not have a certain one i used. try getting some diaper serivce quailty prefolds and a few snappis and a few covers and you should be good.

the best flats or prefold diapers in my opinion come from the site www.greenmountaindiapers.com- she also gives detailed instructions on the site for folding, care, fit, sizing, etc. I have these and use them most of the time, they are extremely absorbent once you do the first several washes, My baby is almost 6 mos and these can make it through the night most of the time, I would say start with 1 dozen and 2 or 3 super whisper snap covers, total should only cost you under $100 or look on craigs list but i think this site has the best quality and prices by far

I use the Bummis pre-folds which I think are similar to what you're describing - they have a booklet describing folding techniques at http://www.bummis.com/en/FoldDiapers.htm...
They work wonderfully!

Yeah, I was using the flats from Walmart so they just didn't absorb enough. I really liked that fold! Best of luck, I really like using cloth diapers :-)

I think I will experiment with them and see how it goes! Brandy, when you said they didn't work anymore...did you mean that they are not absorbant enough or they just didn't fit right? I thought about making some flats out of 100% cotton flannel and using a doubler within the oragami fold. I like the idea that the flats wash up good and dry quickly! Thanks for your input ladies!

I use flats to stuff my diapers with they are great because they wash up so clean and dry quickly. I usually use mostly pockets...you can just lay flats that are folded and then topped with a fleece liner in a cover. Old flannel sheets work great for this! Super cheap!

My daughter is now 12 weeks old and I used flats for the first couple of weeks because my little one was a little on the small side and I wanted the diaper to fit snug. I used the oraigami fold. I watched a video on youtube to see how to do this fold. It worked pretty good. After a few weeks they just didn't work anymore. Then I started using Gerber prefolds from Walmart. Now those are not working too well so I just purchased some chinese prefolds. Also, I found some diaper covers on BabyBestBuy.com called Dappi covers and they are great and cheap! And you need to make sure you buy some snappis they work so much better than trying to pin. Also, I would check on Craig's List in your local area for prefolds or all in ones that is what I did! This was my first CDing experience so I had to learn the hardway. If you have any other questions please let me know. I am going as inexpensive as I can! Best of Luck!
