I have a few different kinds of cloth diapers that I have been using (not so much anymore since we are potty training the 2yo) I am having another baby in 3 weeks, and am going to start using them again. I usually use G diapers, but when i had first started using them they didn't have the cloth inserts for them, so I used my own indian prefold cloth diapers, and that seemed to work pretty well. I was just wondering if anyone has used the Cloth inserts that G diapers sells, and how well it holds up? I like to use the G diapers for the ease of using the flushable liners when we go out places. Thanks!

I am planning on using gDiapers but making my own inserts and found this link. She has 'sewing' projects and 'non-sewing' projects. Not only for gDiapers, but for many different helpful things for a mom trying to save a little money and be greener. Hope you find the link helpful...

I haven't used them myself, but I have heard mixed reviews from mama's that have, for some light wetters they are fine for daytime, but the majority of people I've heard from have been dissapointed with the absorption. There are other options out there if you don't want to just use your prefolds, gflappers from sharni at the nappyshoppe are supposed to be fantastic, and if you join the yahoo gdiapers group you will get a coupon code for 10% from her too. I use prefolds in ours, preemie ones in the smalls and infant ones in the medium / larges they work great IMO, I also have some microfibre and cotton inserts that I slapped together in about 20 minutes and they work great but take longer to dry in the dryer. If you have a sewing machine you can whip together inserts in no time.

I haven't used them either. Like you, when i bought them they only had disposable inserts. Here are two reccos:

1. There is a lady who specializes in making cloth inserts for gdiapers called gflappers. I've heard good reviews about them. They may be worth looking into as they have more variety (i.e. bamboo and hemp) and some are slightly cheaper (i.e. $4.50 vs. $5.00) than the official cloth gdiaper inserts.

2. If you're looking for disposable convenience when you're out or on the go, you may also want to consider disposable diaper liners. These are like paper towels - only softer, biodegradable, compostable and flushable. You lay them inside your cloth diaper and they catch the poo. When baby uses the bathroom you just toss the liner and you're only left with a wet diaper. These are great for using while you're out and on the go and cost wise, they are significantly cheaper (i.e. $0.05 each vs. $0.32 each for disposable inserts).

There are a few brands out there. I wasn't a fan of the Kushies brand. I've heard the Imse Vimse ones are good but haven't used them. My personal favorite are the Mother Ease Disposable Inserts. You can buy them here:
