I'm trying to save on $, and am interested in going eco-friendly and using clothe diapers. My baby just turned 1, and I was wondering- which have been great? Not so great? advice to a new cloth diaper mom? what about at night? I'm thinking... my baby wets/dirties the diaper, I change the insert- wash it asap, line dry, then use it again. Right? i hope i'm not going into something too far away from this... thoughts please?

Depends on the diaper. some inserts take longer to dry. Are you talking about hand washing?? Or using a washing machine---I do a wash every other day. I use best bottom diapers they have snap in snap out liners and a variety of pocket diapers.. I love the pockets for during the day and the best bottoms for at night. Its what works for us. Hope that helps. Also my pockets are all cheapy ones. I bought alvababy and sunbaby pockets. sun baby is my fav. I bought cheap cuz cost was an issue. the sun babys ended up being around $8/diaper.. Anyways.. Good luck..My advice is to just try a few different kinds to see what works. I really love sunbaby..

Cloth diapers do save on money. We have decided to get ALOT of inserts and covers oer time and have about $350 worth of diapers and covers, but I love it *smile* I love the One-Size fits all because they grow with the baby. The best ones that I LOVE are FLIPS and then Econobums. You can interchange the inserts too. I love using the FLIP covers with the Econobum inserts, especially at night since my girl is older and she goes more. However you can also double up on the inserts. When she was little the flips were enough and wouldn't get on the cover as much. But if we use a FLIP insert now without doubling and she decides to poop, then we always have to change the cover. I have been doing this for about 15 months and love it. It is all about a frame of mind in my thinking. If you decide to love them or hate them you will *smile* It can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be too. You can wash every day, every other day, or every three days... your choice will depend on how many covers and inserts you will need. Line Dry is a great way to kill bacteria and 'bleach' your inserts/covers. It depends what kind of covers you choose or if you choose All in One's (AIO). I know several people who like AIO because they are more like disposable diapers. The baby uses them once and they have to be changed for a new one. This tends to be more expensive. You can get starter kits for like $50 with the FLIPS and Econobums at cottonbabies.com *smile* Hope this helps! If you have more questions, just ask!
