Hey everyone! I am expecting my first and my husband and I have decided to go with CDing! Yay for our wallets and the planet!

I was wondering.. what type of CDs work best for you? Which ones hold up to wear? (We are going to have more babies and want to be able to count on the CD's we buy lasting.) And.. any advice about washing out creme's, stains, and other care tidbits!

to start, i think prefolds and covers are an cheap, amazing option. They double as great burp cloths.

AIO(all in ones) are our favorite. I suggest you check out Etsy.com to support WAHM's and you will find many great.

BSRB(bagshot row bamboos) AIO's are our favorite all in ones,

As for washing there is nothing like the sun for drying and getting out stains,

here is a link that may help you!

PM me if you would like any more advice, this always excites me. :)

There isn't much left to be said but

sunshine is best for stains and i use homemade laundry soap and just put some straight on the stain before dropping it in my dry pale. I have some hemp prefolds and they are way better than the reg. cotton but more expensive. white vinegar is good add to the wash at least once a month it removes soap build up and softens the diapers. beware of some of the velcro diapers I have one and in looked bad after only a few months. btw exclusively breast fed baby poop does smell much and doesn't have to be washed out of the diaper. you can just throw it in the pail and do a prewash in the machine before adding the rest of the stuff

I think the best advice for someone startingout is to not invest too much before you find what will work for you and your little one. There are good sites that offer trial packages... such as www.jilliansdrawers.com. It also helps that they have a FANTASTIC return policy.

That said, my one love is fitteds with wool. ♥ We use Tide to wash (I know, tsk tsk but it keeps the stinkies away). To rid of stains let your damp diapers sit to dry in the sun. This will also help with any stink issues. Diaper cream - I use a fleece liner and I use Burt's Bees cream. You definitely was to avoid using any creams that have fish oil in them as it will make your diapers smell awful!!

If you end up needing cream for a diaper rash, there are a couple options that are safe for cloth diapers, but you'll need to get something from a cloth diapering store. Creams like Desitin are NOT cloth diaper friendly. Northern Essence all natural diaper rash salve is what we keep on hand, but with CD's, we've never had to worry about a rash! And as for our favorite diaper, it's been the perfect fit Fuzzibunz. My little girl was in size medium at three months, and now at 15 months they still look like they'll fit for a long time. We love the snaps, rather than velcro.

I have collected so many different types of diapers, mainly everything except prefolds. My favorites are fitteds and coveres, mainly thirsties and kissaluvs brands, with bummis and prowraps covers.

As far as stains, I use Allens Naturally detergent and it removes most stains. Sun is the best thing for getting out stains though. I can't wait for winter to be over (or at least a day above freezing), so I can hang my diapers outside in the sun.

For diaper cream, I use desitin or Burt's Bees cream and an Imse Vimse disposable liner folded in half (they're huge) to protect the diaper. Do NOT get cream on the diaper, it is almost impossible to wash out!

I just wanted to add that the One Size (OS) dipes won't fit a newborn. They didn't fit my daughter until about 3+ months. When she was a newborn I used prefolds and KL0s (Kissaluvs size 0) and Thirsties XS covers. If using prefolds, the poop will often leak out onto the cover, so you'll want to have at least 5 covers so you can wash them as needed. Exclusively breastfed baby poop is very watery (I don't know about formula poo).

You will also want 2 pail liners and at least 1 wet bag for your diaper bag (for the dirty diapers while out). I wash her diapers (in fact, all of our laundry) in Country Save detergent.

BUMGENIUS 3.0 ONE SIZE CLOTH DIAPERS!!!! woot woot!
They r the best! Ur not supposed to use creams with cd's but if u do just cut a burp cloth and place it between the baby bottom and the diaper. We've used ours for a yr now and they don't have any stains. Oh and getting a diaper sprayer for ur toilet would be helpful. Oh and don't be afraid to use a LITTLE BIT of bleach every now and then.
Hope this helps u out.

I use the gDiaper system and am totally in love with it! We've used it since our son was about a month a a half old (he didnt hit the 8 lbs minimum until then), and we've used it ever since. I love them in that you can get the flushables for out and about and for other caregivers, and then I use the gCloth inserts at home. It's really nice to have just one system for all the time. We started into the medium size about a month ago, but his Small's are still in great shape! Definetly ready for the next baby.

Rockin Green is excellent for microfibre stinkies! My all time favorite CDs ar eBumGenius 3.0 with suedecloth lining. They last and last and last! I've converted all of my son's stash to snaps so they are in better shape than ever!

We use a mix of FuzziBunz One Size and prefolds (Green Mountain Diaper) with Blueberry Coveralls. For overnight I use the DryBees Fleece Overnight diaper with an ArtsyFartsyFooFoo hemp insert under a microfiber insert. For diaper cream, we have used California Baby and Earth Mama Angel Baby Angel Bottom Balm (this is great for other things as well). We use Country Save for our diapers as well as all of our laundry. Hanging the diapers out in the sun will get rid of any stains. If you go to www.jilliansdrawers.com there is a diaper trial package where you can try a few different options for only $10.

Here is a great site to get a lot of information about cloth diapering: http://pinstripesandpolkadots.com/basics...

We use Fuzzi Bunz One Size here. RAVES! I got a huge sample pack of each type of cloth dipe out there since I am childbirth educator, so I've tried 'em all. They are the only OS I like because the legs are adjustable instead of folding down like other types. And with my little one having way chunky legs and a normal waist, that has given us a better fit than sized fitted diapers! (Rocky Mountain Diaper brand are ok too, not quite as versatile and a little more expensive, but have cute leg ruffles/lining colors, so I have a few of those too). They resist stains better than any other cloth I've seen, I wash a single cycle in cold once a day, no extra rinses or hot cycle, and the lining is still stain free. The inserts have stains but can't see those once the dipe is stuffed anyway. The price might scare you (it did me anyway) until you realize it is way worth it, they grow with baby and since they dry so fast you can get by with fewer ( I also had 14 bamboo fitteds that required a cover, and would run out waiting for them to dry since an hour in the dryer would still leave them really damp, but can easily get by on about 10 of these if I wash frequently. I only dry the inserts in the dryer, only one run needed, and hang dry the pocket (which dry a little faster inside-out). Hope that helps! People also like prefolds, I liked the simpler use and better fit of shaped diapers that included the water proof outer.

Haven't had any rash to wonder about using a cream, but I've seen moms say that they use those throw away liners meant for easy poo clean out when they need to use one to protect the diaper.

I use Charlies soap for my dipes and all of my clothes(i am way to lazy to have multiple washing routines). It is not too expensive.-we used to use tide- and much better for the clothes. I no longer need softener at all. Hanging dipes in the sun usually work well for getting out the stains. The only prob that i have run into is that my baby is prone to diaper rash, and there is nothing (that i know of) that i can use for it other than giving him some air time every change. Any petrolium or oil based product will ruin the absorbancy of the dipes.

Bumgenuis is my favorite. I have tried the gdiapers and fuzzibunz but they were not as absorbant as the BG'S.... As you get started, I would suggest that you get a few of all, and see what works best for you
