Hidrocoritsone cream and diapers

Hi there, my daughter has developed eczema in her diaper area and we have been prescribed a hidrocortisone cream to help get rid of it. The doctor said to switch back to disposables in order to get rid of the rash. I was hoping to not have to switch. ( I will do it to get rid of the rash though) Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Should I just switch or can I still use my Bamboo fitteds?

if the reason is to keep her dry, then you can still use cloth with no cover. Most pocket diapers are just as efficient at wicking moisture away from the skin as disposables. Just change her frequently, and immediately if you notice she has gone. If I were you, I'd just use the bamboo fitteds without a cover so you can change her immediately.



For the cream, I would use flannel liners. I recently made some for my son when we had to use an antibacterial ointment on him. I took an old pair of flannel pajama pants that were ripped anyway, and cut out rectangles about 3inchesx6inches. If you can sew, you could surge the edges to get the most use out of them, but if you are just going to use them a few times you don't *have* to. Then you just put the liner in between your baby's tush and the diaper.

the doctor said to switch to keep her dry. I don't think the doctor is impressed with the cloth diaper idea altogether. I will look at getting some liners though, I only have to use the cream once a day so it shouldn't be that bad.

When my son had to use a cream, I used inserts in the cloth diapers. (they have disposable and reusable ones. I don't know of a medical reason that you would need to switch to disposable. Did your doctor say why?
