Darling Diapers has nice newborn free pattern you can print out buy some pul or fleece a few snaps or touch tape follow the directions and in a few hours you will be a diaper cover making pro. You can make fleece pants using about any pattern or buy a pattern from a site like amazon they have little comet tails.
By the way, if you can make a diaper cover then you can make a diaper, just make sure you use good thread like Gutterman's 100% polyester in 1000 m size.

I make them out of two layers or polar fleece, I just traced around one of my fitteds and then added a little extra. I stich all around with wrong sides together turn it rightside out, add casing for the elastic, feed the elastic through sew down the ends of the elstic and top sitch the open side all the way across and around the wings so they keep there shape then add snaps. Super easy each one takes about 15 - 20 minutes to make.

I searched online and found a free printable diaper pattern (sorry I don't remember the site). I use diaper cover fabric from Hancock fabricsor the inside and I put a cute patterned fabric on the outside.... I'll try to find the pattern again because the one I found has to sizes, NB-6 months, 6-18 months. My 3 year old, 1 year old and 5 month old all fit in the larger size, so I don't have to make multiple sizes! It's not hard and it's fun... I'm getting addicted to making them!

You can order PUL fabric online and then use an existing cover that fits your kid well to create a pattern. Place the current cover on a piece of parchment paper or regular paper and trace the shape. Mark where the elastic is and the trim is on the sheet. Then add about 1/4 to 1/2 to the outline for the seams. This will give you your basic pattern. Once your pattern is set, trace it onto your PUL fabric, cut it out, insert the elastic and sew up the seams. Add the velcro and you're done. It's actually really easy. You can also use old wool sweaters -- wash them in hot and dry them to shrink ("felt") the fabric and then follow the same concept. Wool covers are the best!! The best thing to do is make an Aristocrats-type of diaper cover (with the short leg gussets).
