How do you Potty Train w/ Cloth Diapers?

I'm curious about what CDers use on their kids during potty training. Can I get cloth pull-up diapers? I have at least 6 mos before I have to worry about this, but I'm dreading the idea of undoing the snappy, prefold, and dipe cover, sitting her on the pot and putting it all back on again, only to repeat ten minutes later.

What do you do, or have you done?

I just took away the diapers one day & he figured it out. He's toilet trained now (just turned 2), but we still bring an extra pair of pants & underwear just in case. I also still use the rubberized mat under his sheets, just in case. I think pull-ups are probably a waste of time & he's able to get his night time diaper off by himself to go potty in the morning. When it comes time to night train for real, I think I'll just have to buy a few extra pairs of sheets!

There are a wide variety of cloth training pants available. When my dd was learning I used fitted diapers that could be pulled down or unsnapped. It also helps if you can let them go diaperless sometimes, whether you continue to use cloth or not, it helps them connect the "gotta go" feeling with the body function.

When your little one is ready to use training pants it's best to save the prefolds for naps and bedtimes and stick with things that go up and down easily. It'll be easier on you, and the trainee in question will do better if they can pull their pants up and down when they need to.

Good luck, potty training can be tough for all parties involved, no matter what kind of pants you use. When you get frustrated just remember that everyone learns...eventually.

I use regular cotton underwear and take him to the potty every 30 minutes.

you can buy cloth training pants but to be honest i found those and the disposable type pull ups a complete waste of time it was easier with all of mine just to put proper pants on them and put up with a few accidents

You can buy pull up cloth diapers. Personally, I just use normal underwear for potty training. I just use our normal nappies for when we are out and about.

I got some terry lined vinyl knickers for when I was out and about and knickers/undies for at home. worked well for the girl and the boy and they got trained pretty quick too.
