I am using Bummis diapering kit (8-15lbs) one and it is recommended to change diapers every two hours. Since I am trying to "train" my kiddo to sleep through the night, I don't want to wake him up every two hours to change him. So, what do you use and how long does it "last"?
Also, if anyone else using bummis, I would love to hear your opinions on it.
Thank you much

We use bumgenius pockets at night with a preemie prefold doubler (my daughter is 20 mos). When she was really little the regular insert worked fine by itself. If you have a bare prefold against baby's skin you would need to change more often. Fleece liners wick the moisture from their bottoms so it really helps when you can't change as often.

When she's awake, I change it as soon as I know it's wet/dirty, but there's no way I'm waking her for a diaper change. We have used diapers so it's a mix of prefolds, Imse Vimse AIOs and Fuzzi Buns pocket dipes. I've used all of them overnight at some point. We used sposies briefly when someone gave them to me for free, and that's the only time we had problems with leaks or blow outs!

I was having the same problem, but decided not to sweat it anymore. If he wakes up from a 3-4 hour nap soaked through, I just wipe him down, change his clothes, and start with a fresh prefold & cover. I figure it's a pain, but it's all washable. I also just ordered 1 BumGenius pocket diaper to try out at night (still using disposables at night). I've heard they are great b/c you can stuff them with a couple of liners or even a small prefold. I may order a few more if it does the trick to keep him from wetting through at night.

I used the same kit at first, because it was an easy way to try out cloth diapering. I had problems at night until I learned how to fold and pin the prefolds. Type in 'folding prefold diapers' in google and you'll come up with lots of tutorials and YouTube videos. I use a snappi to hold the prefold together. I didn't have problems with them leaking at night then.

I started keeping the same diaper on all night even when she was still waking up one or two times. I was so tired and by the time she was done nursing she was asleep too. I never wanted to wake her just to change a diaper. Good thing about cloth - while she still gets diaper rash, it's not nearly as bad or as frequent as when I used disposables the two weeks. Plus, I try to let her bottom air out in the morning after sitting in a wet diaper all night. Hope that helps!

I'm using seventh-generation disposables at night, it keeps the wet away from his skin more effectively and they're still biodegradable, so I don't feel so bad about it. Of course, he's rash-prone, so that's part of it. He's only waking up once at night now, too, so he'll go through maybe 2 disposables a night. I agree with the "don't wake a sleeping baby," if they're sleeping, let them! :)

My theory is 'never wake a sleeping baby'...just find a diaper that is absorbant enough so that it doesn't leak! We had good luck with pockets when my lo was that young.

Are you using a pocket diaper (with fleece or microfiber against baby's skin) or a cotton prefold inside the Bummis liner? We use cotton prefolds during the day and change every 2 hours, but we use pocket diapers (BumGenius and Thirsties, with extra hemp insert) at night, and sometimes don't change him for 12 hours, and he never gets rashy. I wouldn't wake a kid up to change him, though, no matter what diaper he's wearing - if he's sleeping, he's not nursing, so theoretically the diaper won't be as wet :-) Good luck with the sleeping through the night thing!
