We are going to use a diaper service for the first month or so and we just got our prefolds delivered. We have 2 gDiaper covers that we got for a gift and I also have ordered some Bum Genius 3.0s for after we stop the diaper service. My question is, do I need additional covers for the prefolds? Can I just put the prefolds in the bumGenius? I know I can do this in the gDiaper covers?
If I do need more covers, how many do you recommend for a newborn? Has anyone used the Snappies? Are these a good option instead of covers?

Actually, BumGenius are pocket dipes, right? So you could use the pf inside a BG, although they probably come with inserts that are much more trim.

I would buy a few additional covers. Thirsties are my favorite PUL covers - they have a leg gusset, so hardly ever leak, they fit well, are trim and you can trifold your pf without pinning or snappi'ing.

For a newborn I would go with about 6 covers, that breastmilk poo is pretty runny and you could be going through covers very quickly...

So with the prefolds I would suggest wool covers.  I have a webpage with tons of CD info http://www.niftynappybyvilate.weebly.com

I would either use the snappie and a soaker or longie or I would use a snapped wool cover with not snappie and the snap cover will hole the prefold in place.  Let me know if you have any other wool or diaper questions k?

I don't know BG's well, but my impression is that they are an All In One diaper, meaning you won't need the pre-folds (they work like disposibles, you just wash the whole thing). You will be fine using the gDiapers as covers without the snappies (I assume by Snappies you mean the y-shaped elastic peices that hold a prefold on). Snappies keep the pre-folds on, but they do not keep leaks at bay, which is the role of the cover. We use Thirsties covers, which we find work very well and are fairly inexpensive. We do use snappies with the Thirsties covers, but that's really just to keep the prefold from slipping around inside the cover. We've never had more than 4-6 covers at a time, but you may need more with a newborn.

I know there is a lot to learn with CDs at first, but you'll get the hang of the lingo and brands and find what works best for you! GL!
