I do it here and there with my 4 month old, but as I watch a nine month old I can't pay close enough attention to catch much, so she's cloth diapered when I babysit and at night. I notice a very subtle quite pause in her shortly before she goes and put her on her chair. I use the baby bjorn potty chair, it fit her smaller than a toddler bum best while giving back support.

Ummm, I gave her plenty of nappy free time, but with the nappy underneath her. Whenever you notice your bub peeing make your cue sound. I was able to get my little one to pee on command for a while with that. (she only would pee when she needed to of course) Lately I've been able to catch her poop's because she was so obvious (grunting, and very obviously pushing as she was a little constipated) So I would then have enough time to go sit down with her on the potty. Sometimes with toys to keep her entertained. The potty actually helped with the constipation as I think the position was easier and she could get it all out. Not full time nappy free, and the past month I've not been able to really EC, but going to try get going again. There are some good websites you could check out. Just type Elimination Communication, Tribal Baby, Nappy Free into google and see what you get.

Do you mean Elimination Communication? Where you watch baby for signs of poo/ pee and take them to the potty? I've been doing that with my (now) 6 mth old. Haven't had to change many poo nappies but I've had trouble catching pees. It was the other way around not that long ago!
