[deleted account] ( 17 moms have responded )

Hello I am 6mo pregnant and I want to be prepared or well informed however you want to put it, and I was wondering where to buy cloth diaper with inserts and some disposable inserts? I'm not a huge fan of buying stuff online so a few names of stores in Edmonton and are would be helpfull. Also any tips on what types to use and what brands are better. Thank you for all your help!

i also bought most of my diapers at bosom babies initially. however, now that www.oneposhbaby.com is around, i buy everything from there! one posh baby has a large selection of diapers (baby kanga's and blueberry minky's are my FAVOURITE!) they also do a $20 diaper trial. there is no physical shop, it is a home based business. but yes, you can pick up your diapers from her home (i always do). melissa (the owner) will even come to your house to do a demo and discuss diapers with you! you can even call her directly instead of dealing with the website (780)222-2803 if you want to set something up!

i would recommend that you AVOID "dri stuff" diapers. they are the worst things i have ever seen. they leaked from day one and before my son was six weeks old the velcro was failing on almost all six of those that i had. this is the only diaper i have had those problems with and i have used bum genius 3.0, happy heiny's and my favourites, the baby kanga's and blueberry minky's!

To get started I looked on Craigslist and went to some consignment shops and got used ones. Over time I've been able to collect several different brands/styles at a fraction of the cost of new. As I use them, if I find ones that aren't my favorite, I either resell at a consignment or on Craigslist and recoup a few dollars here and there. I haven't bought any online...

Thank you everyone for all the replies I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to squash my fear of online shoping once an for all! Since I have only found a few botique stores that sell them and if you want specific colors and sizes that they don't have you have to order them anyways. So I might as well take some of your great advice on the different types and order online and hopefully I will not becom an online shoping addict! ;)

I know you said you don't like buying online, but for those who want to try different kinds of cloth diapers, I recommend the $10 diaper trial program from Jillian's Drawers here:
http://www.jilliansdrawers.com/products/...

I have been using the diapers with my 1-week old, and it's been lovely to be able to try all the different styles, plus it's nice that I could return them if I didn't want them.

Also there are some inexpensive diapers at Baby Best Buy - http://www.babybestbuy.com/ - but I will warn people that the Dappi vinyl pants run a little big, and I solved that by taking in the legs and waist a little bit on my sewing machine. I like Baby Best Buy because they are significantly cheaper than other cloth diapers.

Here in PA there are no CD stores anywhere near me. I have gotten everything online. You can actually find some really great deal even free shipping sometimes. I have grown to love online shopping for diapers, although I would love if there was a store near by so I could see and feel before purchasing. www.diaperpin.com has some great reviews of online stores as well as lists of sales and discounts and any other information you could possible want about cloth diapering. Good luck on your search.

I suggest fitted and a wool cover. With a few smatterings of pockets for the convenience of no cover. :)
