Looking for any advice on the best brands out there and the best for your money. I am on a budget and would like to purchase the kind that grows with your baby....I think they are called all in ones....or one size. Any advice would be appreciated!!! Thanks

The kind that grows with your baby is called 'one-size'. Fitted, Pocket, All In One and All In Two diapers are all available in 'one-size' options.

Here's some average pricing:
One-Size Fitted = $12
One-Size Pocket = $20
One-Size All In One or All In Two = $25
One-Size PUL Diaper Cover = $12

If cost is your primary concern and you really want one-size, I would recommend a one-size fitted diaper with a one-size diaper cover. For a newborn you'll need between 24 and 30 diapers. Since you're purchasing one-size, that's all you'll need for your stash. If you choose fitteds with covers, you'll purchase 24 to 30 diapers and 6 to 9 covers. With that said, you'll spend about $350 - $500. One-size pockets will run you about $480 - $600, and One-size All In Ones will run you about $600 - $750.

As Tammy mentioned, if cost is more of a concern than one-size, then I recommend prefolds with one-size diaper covers. Prefolds run about $1 each but have to be purchased in multiple sizes to fit your baby as is it grows. However, given how cheap they are, you can easily keep your expenses around $150.

Finally, here's a link of recommended brands by type (i.e. fitted, All In One, etc.). And here's a video that explains the different types of diapers out there.

I started out with prefolds. Mostly because they were cheaper. We started when my son was three months, but they have prefolds sized for newborns too. We had six covers: four bummis whisper wraps and two bummis whisper pants. We used snappis to secure the diaper. I liked the pants better for two reason. First, no velcro to get nasty looking or caught on other diapers in the laundry (if I did it over again, I would get snap covers) and because they are much cheaper. You do have to secure your diaper though, no laying it in like you can with a wrap. That part didn't matter for us cause our son pooped every other diaper, so it didn't make sense to do that, it doesn't hold in the poo.
We had to switch to pocket diapers when he was about six months old though. The constant moisture against his sensitive skin kept him in rashes. We use fuzzi bunz, though I no longer recommend them since they switched to getting their diapers made in china. The seven that I got from china all shrank two inches in length in the first two washes....hopefully they have fixed that problem, but I don't buy from them anymore. I like pocket diaper though because they have a layer of microfleece against baby's skin that keeps baby dry and my kids rash free. I have started making my own diapers for when I have another baby. There are many free patterns online that you can print off and use to make whatever kind you want. You can make prefolds from old clothes, pocket diapers from old clothes, etc. If you can sew and have the time, I would recommend that. Also, if you just want to purchase, look for the kind of diapers you want made my work at home moms, most of them are very nice and they can help you choose what will work best for you. HOpe this helped. :)

I use the all in one pocket nappies on my son, and love them. You can purchase them pretty cheaply off ebay, I bought mine for only up to $7 ea, but they are a no name brand. If you are after a name brand all in one you can purchase second hand ones fairly cheap from ebay too.

I didnt want to spend a fortune on nappies either, I have been using the all in ones for about 7mths now and they are going great, no signs of wear whatsover, not bad for a no name brand i say! All in one pocket nappies are great for convenience and less fuss, as all you do is stuff the insert into the pocket and away you go. I prefer snaps over velcro as velcro can wear and also get caught in the washing machine if not done up properly.

I have heard that all in ones are pretty big on newborns, (not sure how old your lo is) so you may want to consider prefolds, as they are a cheap option too. You can buy prefolds for as little as $2ea.
