My friend is potty training and wants to use cloth. Does anyone have any recommendations for cloth trainers? I have no idea what's good and what's not. Thanks.

We switched directly from cloth diapers to cloth training underwear that you can get just about anywhere cheaply. You can put a cover over them if you are worried about urine getting on things but we never did. It worked great for us and my son has completely out of diapers for about a month and was only wearing them at night for about a month before that.

These are great and very big boy\girl looking, but like others they have the extra pad in the wet zone and are partly waterproof in that area. Only $9.00 ea too!

I really like the Training Unders by Hannah Andersen. They are 100% with an extra panel in the center. They are also much, much less expensive than the other options out there, particularly if you buy them from the outlet stores.

Thank you all for all the great info. Lisa what is the name of your potty trainers or the site you sell them at? I would love to check them out.

I make andn sell training pants so we use those outside of the house and at naptime/bedtime. Otherwise, we use regular underwear with a little extra padding sewn in the wet zone.

I am using Kushies cloth training pants during the day and regular cloth diapers/covers at night. They are okay. Kind of like absorbent flannel panties with nylon covers. They do leak a bit though with a big pee accident, so I'm not excited about using them when we go out. I just wanted something she could pull up and down on her own. I also have some Gerber training pants that are cotton insides with plastic outsides. They are about the same as the Kushies. Fine for around the house.

Well during the day while in the house I would just use gerber underwear. I used Imse Vimse underwear for going out in. They are cloth with a PUL lining in them so that the mess doesn't go everywhere while you are shopping. The Gerber are really the best though.

gerber makes a cloth training pants that are easy to use and they only cost 2.67 cents or for 3 per pack 7.99 a pack you will need to use a cover if going out when at home I just let my daughter run around in a trainer and tee shirt

My son has been potty training for the past 3 months, and I looked into a bunch of different kinds of cloth training pants... but eventually I bought a few packages of the basic Gerber training pants (not the vinyl kind - they're basically just underpants with added layer for absorbing an accident). Inexpensive, and they work fine. Only thing is they only had them in size 2T and up, and they're a bit loose on my lean 21 month old. This means sometimes if he pees, it runs down his leg rather than being trapped by the pants.
I also got a couple pairs from JC Penny (Okie Dokie brand, I think it is - they come two to a package). I don't see any real difference with those and the Gerber ones - basically the same design.
There's one brand called Little Beetle, which are absolutely ADORABLE, plus they have snaps which is a big plus if you're trying to clean a messy accident. But they have a hefty price tag per pair, so I haven't been able to justify the purchase at this point.
Imse Vimse also looks nice, but no snaps, and again, expensive.

I made a few trainers for my son but what worked the best was plain old boxers because he could feel a difference between the loose fitting boxers and tighter diapers. He'd just go in the trainers I had for him. Once I had some boxers for him, he was 99% potty trained immediately.
The boxers were suggested by my mom and grandma b/c apparently both my I and my mom wouldn't potty train in training pants-it took those silky undies (which felt totally different) to get us to potty train.

I bought Happy Heinys trainers for a girlfriend of mine to help potty train her son recently and she really likes them. Her son wore sposies up until now. She prefers the ones that snap on both sides because it makes them easier to take them off when he has an accident.
