recommendation for a diaper cover?

I love this topic, and I will say nix to eveyone elses posts!  I would go wool!  I love wool covers.  You can go with a soaker that is pull up style, or longies that are pants style (which I love for nights)  or a snap on cover.  All great!  I love the breathability of wool and my soakers are bullet proof.  We haven't had one leak since starting wool!    so i could go on and on and on about wool, I discovered that I was doing that alot on here, so I created a webpage where I could put all the info once and not have to retype it over and over, so here it is... http://www.niftynappybyvilate.weebly.com

PS. how about a snap cover. i have only used PUL covers but recently i made some fleece ones and i really prefer them and i know that there are fleece covers out there (Stacinators?)

I use Thirsties and prefolds most of the time...love'm. I use BumGenius for daycare ... they are awesome. I have recently tried wool soakers and have had success...found them on Etsy. Now, I am trying to talk my Mom into knitting a few more for me!

Wow i just went fold your own cloth nappies on my son with the plastic pants on the top as he was a huge wizzer and could wet thru anything else.

I lined dried my BWW and they are piling and the velco catches on my BG's in the wash cycle. Ugg. I bought a few thirsties a couple of weeks ago and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I also use BG at night. I've tried using a BG insert with a prefold at night-but it still leaked.

It;s not so much that Ellie can undo the velcro. It;s that she wiggles so much in her sleep that they are coming undone.  I line dry mine as well and they are still curling and pilling. Maybe I just got a bum bunch of the whisper wraps!

Ok I am a freak for fleece covers!!  The pull up kind!!  You can find them all over and they are totally easy to make(when the sewing machine is working)!!  I love wool soakers for night time!!  Check it out.

I agree the velcro tabs on the whisper wraps are not great.  They rub on the skin and leak too.  Started using Mother Esae Air Flow Snap at ~8 months and have loved them for almost 2 years now.  Still using the same size.  There are 3 different snap settings, so you can really grow with it.

I should add...we use Bumgenius at night. He's a heavy wetter & would be completely soaked in a prefold & Thirsties cover.

I have some covers by A Better World Company that have velcro and then a clip in the front - it's hard for even me to get them off! The only problem with them is their leg holes are to small for my little munchkin and she gets a chaffy rash if I use them. But she has some husky legs!

I use Bummis Whisper Wraps and haven't had that problem with curling and pilling. I line dry and that seems to keep them in much better shape. They still look new and my daughter's a year old!

That's a little genius you have there being able to remove her diaper at 4 months! Are they on tight enough? Best of luck!

I think Wahmies have hook closures.  and G diapers close in the back i think so you could use them with prefolds instead of the throw away inserts they come with.

I also have lively one (6 months) and I use also tried the whisper wraps, but like Soft Bums, the velcro is large. and the nice thing about these it's one size fits all. there are no snaps, there is a elastic in the legs that you expand as they grow. one suggestion if you do use these; they come with inserts, dont buy extras is a lot better to use prefolds.

We use (and love) the Thirsties covers, but they have the velcro in front, too. My 17 month old doesn't have an easy time removing them, though. Have you tried maybe putting the cover on backwards? Maybe having velcro in the back would make it harder to take off. If that doesn't work for you, maybe switch to a brand with snaps? They would probably be more difficult to remove. I've seen Wonder Wraps, which have both snaps and velcro, and Stacinator So Simple which have just snaps.
