Hey there. I've seen some of you say you use a little tea tree oil in the wash as an anti-bacterial. How much do you recommend?

Thanks!

I LOVE Tea Tree Oil (TTO). We use it in our cleaners and wash and wipe solution and so much more. Tea Tree Oil is a natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral. It is AMAZING stuff! However, do NOT ingest TTO. It is for external use only! You can check out lots of uses for it at teatreeoiluses.com. You can check out my blog if you want. I talk about how we use it in our wipes and cleaners. Really is awesome stuff. *smile* http://simplyriver.blogspot.com/search/l...

I use tea tree oil in my wipes too. I use a regular wipes warmer. I wet my cloth wipes with plain water and then the pad that comes with the wipes warmer gets a few drops of tea tree oil and a few drops of lavender oil. My cloth wipes are always warm, wet and smell great :)

We use about 4 drops in the wash. I get mine at Trader Joe's for a very reasonable price. I also use about a capful in my wipes solution mixed with one pump of the lavendar hand soap (also from TJ) and fill the rest with water. It has been great for my babes, especially when they have rashes.

Two drops per wash. I also use Charlies and love it. Whole Foods has the best price.

I put 3-4 drops on a dry washcloth and hang it under the lid of my diaper pail to help with the smell. To whoever posted the cleaner recipe, Thanks, I've been meaning to look one up.

I use about 12 drops in my diaper loads... for about 9 months I had three in cloth diapers and generated a rather large load of laundry every day. I also put 3-4 drops in a small spray bottle with a tablespoon of vinegar and fill the rest with water. Then I use this spray as a disinfectant when my kids have accidents on couches, beds, etc. We also use it as a anti-bacterial room spray when we're airing out rooms when kids are sick.

I found mine at a local health food store. I've also seen it at our local grocer-Fred Meyer- as well. Make sure it is pure and not diluted. It should be 100% Melaleuca alternifolia- it will have a very strong smell. I paid about $22 for a 4 oz. bottle, but it lasts awhile. I think if stored in a cool dry place, it can last about 6 months. I also use it as a general all purpose cleaner. I mix 20 drops into 1/4c. hydrogen peroxide 1/2c. vinegar, 1/4 castile liquid soap and about 16 oz. of water. II put it in a spray bottle. It smells great and I don't have to worry about my kids or myself inhaling potent fumes. I use it EVERYWHERE. It's a great antibacterial formula. It also works terrific on carpet stains.

I use 5-8 drops in my wash, I just use water on my wipes. I am sold that it helps with the smell and kills the bacteria!

I also use tea tree oil for a wipes warmer solution. I fill up the warmer with water and add 10 drops of oil. When I change my little guy I use a clean washcloth, dip it in the water and wipe. Saves a lot on buying wipes!

Just 1 or 2 drops. A tiny bit of essential oils can go a LONG way!
