I just started using cloth diapers and was Kind of curious on how to do it when in public. I have a wetbag but I like to rinse them quick when I change them. Also I don't know what to do if out in public and had a poop cloth diaper. Any advice?! Is it safe and ok to rinse and flush out using a public toilet? What happens if there isn't a toilet? Also what store brand detergent do you use?

My husband only agreed to go with cloth if I didn't put poopy diapers in the washer. So I rinse with the bumGenius sprayer. On outings I just roll the diaper up and put it in my wet bag and rinse when I get home.

I'm with happy mama I don't rinse my diapers. If the poop is solid then it gets dumped, otherwise, it gets tossed in the pail and then into the washer. We use Nellies Naturals, it's worked a lot better than the tide we were using you just have to remember to use less soap than you would instinctively use. I've also got the wash machine with the sanitary cycle on it :)

If the poop is is clumps, I will usually drop the clumped poop into the toilet. Otherwise, that's what a washer is for. Yes, my washer handles to poop and urine just fine. I wouldn't pre-rinse mud soaked clothes, so why would I pre-rinse poop or urine soaked clothes?

My routine, when washing diapers, is to empty the wet bag into the washer. I run it as a load on normal wash, cold water, w/o detergent but with vinegar. The vinegar neutralizes tha amonia in the urine. This cycle gets out all the poop like hand pre-rinsing would do but it's not as nausiating! LOL I then run a full cycle on Sanitary with hot water and detergent and then throw it all in the dryer.

I use homemade detergent and have for 7 years now. I have always been happy with the results and it costs pennies a load! I use the Duggar family recipe. You can google it.

So you just let the poo in there and wash it out in the washer? Do they come clean? You said you don't use store bran detergent, what type of detergent do you use? I'm only asking because I'm very new at this and I have like the slightest clue what I'm doing. Haha

I'm not a rinser/swisher. Not even at home. I use my wet bag to put my soiled diapers in while out and about and throw them in the diaper basket when we get home (which is a laundry basket lined with a large wet bag), then launder as normal. I do not use store bought detergent so I have no suggestions there.
