I have a two friends who are going to have babies any time now! They both want to use cloth diapers, and asked me how to wash them. This method worked well for us--never got any stains! Thought I'd share it with you mamas too :)

I agree sunlight is fantastic to remove stains, but no one ever believes me!
I have also stopped soaking mine as a pre rinse in the machine is just as good. Makes life a lot easier!

Don't spray the poop off onto your yard. You can assemble a spray attachment to your toilet for a couple dollars from the local hardware store.
Having water sit in a pail is a drowning hazard. Throw both poo and pee diapers into the pail then pre-rinse in the washer.
IF you get stains you can sun them out even on cloudy days.
