Washing tips?

I am wondering what detergent is best to use on a front loading washing machine. I am looking for something that I could wash the baby's clothes in as well as washing the diapers, but yet I would like to have one thats not overly expensive as well. I have not had to wash any yet, but I don't think I would have a problem with doing any extra rinses, if necessary. I see a lot of people recommend Charlies soap on here but I'm unsure if I can use it in a front loader. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,  Any detergent that is "free and clear" is good for diapers and baby clothes.  I have been using Tide High Efficiency detergent that is free and clear for a front loader.  So far the diapers come out clean and I am using both prefolds and pocket diapers.  Good luck!

We were using charlies with no problems but no stores around here sell it. So we decided to give tide a try and our diapers have developed a smell since. I have to strip the diapers once a week. I will be ordered charlies again. The charlies worked very well while we used it and we never had a problem no leaks no smells. Good Luck =)

We have a front loader too. I use All Free and Clear on the diapers and Tide for everything else. I think we might start using Tide for the diapers too though. I've seen a lot of mama's who haven't had problems using it.

We have a front loading machine also and use the "Nature clean" brand. It is all natural and about 10$ for ~70 loads. It is a liquid, and is unscented (we chose this to avoid all harsh chemicals on our kids clothing) bonus is that it works great on diapers as well.

I use charlies in my front loader for all my laundry.  It is bar far one of the best and least expensive detergents ever.  Half the price per load of Tide and other name brands.  I order the big 5 gallon bucket from charliesoap.com free shipping!  We don't have any stores that sell it in my area...



Also a word of advice with Charlies... if you don't use it on all your laundry it can cause problems for your diapers/baby clothes.  Basically it strips your machine of any residue every time you use it, so if you are using another detergent for other loads, then it strips that off the machine and puts it into your diapers, which can then cause irritation to your baby...



The  best bet is to use charlies for everything, and like i said it's cheaper, so why not?

I like the Tide Pure Essentials. My mom has a front loader and uses it. I was using Crunchy Clean but started having some diaper issues. I am LOVING the Tide.

I think you can use it in a front loader because it is a low suds detergent, just use a tiny bit. I use it in a regular washer and double rinse. Sometimes I will use regular baking soda instead of the soap and then add vinegar to the rinse. I use pocket diapers and this works well for me! Good Luck.
