What are the best moisture-wicking materials for prefolds/doublers?

A friend of mine recently reported that she stopped using cloth diapers because her kid would get wet faster.

I suspect this has to do with the type of prefold material she was using.

What type of prefolds or doublers have worked best for you (bamboo, hemp, cotton fleece, etc) that will keep baby dry longer?

hemp or bamboo work great, but can be more expensive

otherwise, cotton has worked great for us.

i would suggest
hemp/organic cotton
tencel/organic cotton
bamboo/organic cotton
check simplifi fabric on etsy for fabric to sew your own!!! super easy!!

Hemp is expensive, but I bought a couple of the joey-bunz inserts, they're super thin so no bulk at all, and they are so absorbent...my 2 yr old can wear her diaper twice as long (seriously) as normal and her skin is still dry. For overnights, I was actually nervous to try these because they are SO thin (even though I knew how absorbent they were during the day) two of them in her flip diaper cover, and she wakes up with dry pjs and dry skin.

the microfiber inserts are also good. not as absorbent (well, they don't hold as much) but skin is dry, which is always good.

Great materials are hemp, bamboo, and zorb. I love my cotton prefolds, but they don't wick away. However, I use them under a microfiber insert, its not a prefold but it wicks the wet away from babies skin as well. I have a blog about my experience with Cloth Diapers if you want to read it or let your friend know. There are lots of ways to go about this! http://simplyriver.blogspot.com/2012/02/...

I use the cotton twill prefolds. I love them even if they are bulky. I have about 3 hemp ones that are really much better than cotton as they hold more, but I can't afford to get these. If I had a choice, I'd go for hemp. I have heard bamboo is great as well, but I haven't tried it. I also had made some flannel diapers that I like to use every now and again.
