I am looking for a wipe solution that won't affect my diapers. Most recipes I've found are very similar to 2C water, 2T oil, 2T baby wash, and 2 drops tea tree oil. I'm worried that the oil will affect my diapers, and the soap will stay on baby's bum. Are you supposed to wash it off afterwards?

I don't have ay advice to offer in this post....but I just wanted to thank everyone for thier advice. It might sound funny but I'm currently 7mo pregnant and have been trying to find a solution for the future wipe usage, I know I will have, that will save me money and help the environment so I was looking for environmently friendly disposables and never even thought of cloth wipes! Now I know exactly what I will be using for wipes cloth ones!! Thanks for this post you have solved my dilemma!

I cut 5 or so of the million receiving blankets I got, fold them in half and fit about 15 or so in a ziplock storage container. I put 2 or 3 drops of my baby's soap and fill it with enough water to make them all moist. My baby has SUPER sensitive skin and we've never had any problems. actually, the only problems we've had with wipes are the ones we've purchased at the store!

I fill up a wipe warmer with water, a few drops of tea tree oil and/or lavender oil, and a squirt of Dr. Bronner's. Works great, and no issue with the diapers.

I use flannelette squares in 500mls water with just oil and teatree, no soap. You don't need soap, that's what baths are for. I throw my wipes in with the nappies in a cold wash with Bicarb soda (1/4 cup) and the vinegar in the softener dispenser releases any soaps and oils from the material

I have had same wipes for 8 mths now and no worries

I don't use a solution. I have a spray bottle of water and one of bumGenius bottom cleaner. just spray it right on my daughter's bottom and wipe off with the cloth wipe. It's so easy.

i really like vinager and water. it helps with the pee smell left on baby in the morning, after being in a wet diaper all night. during the day i use plain water.

I use water, a couple drops of tea tree oil and a DROP of baby soap OR antibacterial hand soap.
I dont use any oil other than the tea tree oil, which will NOT harm your diapers. YOu can actually add it to the wash for it's antibacterial properties. I bought mine at walmart. about 8 bucks for a good sized bottle.

mama, apple cider vinegar and water!!! THE BEST WIPE SOLUTION EEEEVER!

I use 1 tbsp of the vinegar diluted to half cup of water. The vinegar is great in killing any yeast on baby's bottom or dipe and it will not harm or stain your dipes or baby.

I also use regular white distilled vinegar (1 cup per load) in my rinse cycle instead of fabric softener!

The oil won't effect the diapers and the soap won't bother or need to be washed off the bum. With that said you don't *need* a solution. Plain water works well.
