I'm expecting my first baby in about 6 weeks and we are all set up to start with CDs (except as soon as he is born so we don't get the gunky black stuff all over the diapers!) Anyway, we are also planning on using cloth wipes but honestly, I'm wondering how much we will end up using (esp when if he has a lot of blow outs). Anyway, a friend of mine who is using disposable wipes said that there is some dissenting opinions about using wipes after a pee diaper-indicating that urine is a disinfectant itself and unless the babe's bum is all wet, you don't need to wipe all the time. She said she still wipes about 3 times a day after a pee diaper. Anyway, if this is all true, I can imagine it would make it easier with cloth wipes. Anyone hear of this? Thanks!

when my LO's were newborn I did wipe at every change but my youngest is almost two and I guess I use wipes about everyother time for pee diapers. I LOVE cloth wipes and find them much easier and cleaner to use!!

I use cloth wipes - we don't always wipe after a pee diaper but for poopy dipes it is definitely easier to use the flannel wipes b/c they work better in my opinion and you can just throw them in the diaper pail afterwards.

i have a bunch of homemade flanel wipes that i use. and for a pee diaper, i often just use a dry wipe on my girl's bum, mostly just to make sure it's nice and dry b/c bums tend to stay a little damp with cd. and the flanel is so soft. i also find that they work better than disposable wipes when wet for blowouts as well, then just toss them in the diaper pail when done.

If I'm in a hurry and it's only pee I don't always wipe but normally I do. My 4 year old got a rash from not wiping properly, so although sterile it can be irritating (my guess). I typically always wipe my baby.
